rooster59
Over 80% of Thai public suspect ulterior motive for cabinet reshuffle – Super Poll File Image Over 80% of respondents to a recent opinion poll are against a cabinet reshuffle, believing that the political shakeup would fuel public suspicion that it would be intended to enable politicians to enrich themselves from the huge loan, to be secured by the Government to cushion the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Super Poll. The survey took the opinions of 1,871 people, via telephone and field surveys, from June 1st to June 5th. It shows 85.1% of the respondents are suspicious of the motives of Palang Pracharat politicians in caling for a reshuffle, believing that it would enable exploitation of the Government’s huge loan for self enrichment. nausea
A little surprised, don't Super Poll usually come out with very pro-establishment results.

It's not like Thai politicians and/or cabinet ministers have never before "enriched themselves". In fact, they have ALWAYS done it. The "enriching themselves" prospect is the sole factor why they have become politicians in the first place and why they scramble to land cabinet posts. It's their only motivation and goal. Actually serving the people comes a very, very, very distant second. And if the Thai public has been under the impression that previous cabinets were even one iota less prone to "enriching themselves", then I must say that the Thai public is pretty naive. Even the Thaksin cabinets - which nowadays almost seem to enjoy mystical status, as Thai memories are notoriously short - were choke full of these crooks. 1

Popular Post KhunKenAP
They don't need a reshuffle, they just need to fire the stupid ones. Start with the ones with mouths bigger than their brains. Anutin first. Woops, that would make a whole new cabinet. 1

I guess the onward march of social media and the politicisation of the young in particular may have something to do with it. Again and again military rulers have proved themselves to be incredibly thick, quite apart from corrupt and greedy (Think Greek Junta). Maybe they are simply incapable of fighting a social media war - it's all beyond them. Tanks on the streets is their level of their intelligence. The number of Thais who I have heard say they want Thaksin back is uncountable. They say, "Yes he was corrupt, they all are, but the economy was doing fine". There is a lot of hardship around these days, personal borrowing levels are ludicrous, Covid has just added a new burden.
