Sophon Cable TV on Facebook quoted the Region 6 harbormaster as saying that the ferry from Pattaya to Hua Hin would remain shut for now.

It would resume operations at an appropriate time in the future, said Ekkarat Khantharo.

The Royal Passenger Liner Co Ltd service was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. The main problem is that it represents inter-provincial travel with all the difficulties that presents as lockdown measures are eased.

The company also needs to up its game regarding measures to limit the spread of the virus before it is allowed to sail again.

Ekkarat said that transporting goods between provinces at sea is no problem, people is another matter.

It's actually pretty quick considering road time is around 5 hours. Not surprised it isn't busy though as who living in Pattaya wants to go to Hua Hin and vise versa, too much like same same. maybe they will discontinue it if biz remains very low?

If the sea is a flat calm then possibly....two and a half to three is more likely...but lo and behold if they decide its "too windy" aka not enough passengers..... it gets cancelled :whistling:

Make it a car / bike ferry and it might make money. Going to Patts and South East coming from the South West would be much more convenient

Buses can be covid free but a boat can't??

We can not start service because of Covid, is just another way of saying we are going to lose a ton of money with no tourist in town if we started now...

The local farangs and Thais just dont shell out 1,250 baht very often for a one way trip.......

Even in the best of times I think they ran 60-70% empty........Now it would be about 98% empty...
