Not so.

 

I spent the weekend in Hua Hin. It was very busy with weekenders from Bangkok. Mask wearing was not as prevalent as it is in Phuket and hardly anyone on the beach wore on (just to stay vaguely on-topic!) and as for social-distancing? Some restaurants were cramming people in just as they ever did while others obeyed the orders, to a degree.

 

Phuket doesn't get the weekend visitors and the domestic tourism push will have a minimal effect, hence the reason many large hotels aren't opening until October.
