Well you see this one of the wonderful things about 'self rule' the decision makers were voted in by the UK electorate on their promise to deliver, and consequently they can also be held responsible for failures, and voted out by, the UK electorate, should they fail to deliver. There is now no hiding behind an EU 'government' the UK electorate has little or no control over. Australia terms is not about trading with Australia but about expecting the same trade conditions that Australia has. However there is no reason the pre EU trading between UK Australia NZ and Canada couldn't resume. Brexit has become like stepping in a dog turd that you can't shake off your shoe. Popular Post DefaultName Posted June 28, 2020 Popular Post Share Posted June 28, 2020 (edited) Back in 75(?), I voted to join the Common Market, which I still think is a good idea, but the politicians and unelected bureaucrats have, very gradually, turned that into Federal Europe, which is not what we signed up for and is NOT a good idea (for the UK anyway) The EU controlled much of UK life for decades with their rules and regulations - that we mainly adhered to while watching others ignore. They are STILL trying to do that by forcing a deal on us that would force us to give up things like our fishing waters, while also forcing us to sign up to their rules and regulations again. NO. Out is out. IMO. the UK leaving is the start of the break up of the EU - with only France and Germany paying in and all others taking out, it simply isn't sustainable. Does this then mean that the EU negotiators were too demanding when the UK looked for a fair deal, or just not up to the task, or perhaps were dragging out the process in the hope of a U turn which did not appear. Either way if a powerful group such as the EU could not provide a few concessions to pave the way for a satisfactory solution probably not as economically sound as they would like to appear, who is to say they were looking for a fair deal at all, now find they have 'dug in too deep' and cannot be seen to 'weaken' 3 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

How many people posting here are really au fait with international trade, global politics and complex foreign policy aims? It seems democracy has been corrupted so extensively that three word slogans can sway a whole nation. None of this. EU is a club offering a big market and it works because members agreed to play with same rules. UK still want advantages of this market without constraints of these rules. It turned up with a list of demands the EU can never agree to. Therefor we will be leaving with no deal. So when Johnson talked about an oven ready deal during the election campaign he was lying yes?
