Thai media reported that the authorities had been working on emergency measures on Route 118 between Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai on Sunday.

Following continuous heavy rain, part of the road at KM32-34 and KM 36-37 had been washed away by forest run-off.

There are roadworks in the area.

It is now passable again, said Daily News, who reported that the Chiang Mai governor had ordered immediate action for one of Chiang Mai's arteries.

Damage from storms has been reported across the north and park officials at Doi Inthanon are keeping an eye on levels at many waterfalls there.

The fixing it seems to be filling it with the sand that had just been washed away

Temporary fix to get the road open.  They are upgrading the road & building proper bridges.  The ongoing roadworks might have contributed to the washout during heavy rains.  All will be good once finished.  Not an area of deforestation, either.

Scary to think one could have been rocketing down this road, car or bike.

If you could post your travel schedule, I'll rearrange mine to stop our paths from ever crossing!! TIA......
