Police in Nonthaburi north of Bangkok announced the results of a crackdown on the problem of street racing motorcyclists.

Bikers on two roads - Kanchanaphisek and Route 345 - were targeted from Friday to Sunday.

Seventy young men aged 19 to 28 were arrested.

Two juveniles aged under 18 were also detained and their parents called in.

Seventy two vehicles were impounded along with 27 illegal exhausts.

The participants involved in the racing were charged with a variety of offences such as not having licences, having illegally adapted vehicles, no plates, lacking the required accessories and going the wrong way.

The problem of street racing in the area has reemerged after curfew restrictions were eased, reported Naew Na.

Pattaya could use similar photo ops. Thepprasit, Thappraya and Sukumvit. Take your pick, any day and time. Out of control 6 am to past midnight.

Sukhumvit: Na Jomtien to Sattahip, midnight to 4am. Bring back the curfew!
