HONG KONG (Reuters) - Security was tight near the heart of Hong Kong's government district on Wednesday only hours after new security laws came into force and as the city marked the 23rd anniversary of the former British colony's handover to China.

Social distancing relaxed in MRT trains from today

MRT trains will relax from Wednesday social distancing practices that had been implemented to prevent the spread of Covid-19, Bangkok Expressway and Metro (BEM) and Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA), the train operators, said on Tuesday.

MRT Blue Line skips fare revision, current rates to continue until year-end

The MRT Blue Line, which was scheduled to adjust its fares on July 2, will continue with the current rates of Bt16 to Bt42 until December 31, Pakapong Sirikantaramas, governor of the Mass Rapid Transit Authority (MRTA) said.

Thai navy repairs Ban Chang schools, temples, homes

Rear Adm. Utai Chewasutti, commander of the Sattahip-based Air and Coastal Defense Command, led 100 sailors with heavy equipment and tools to Ban Chang’s Samnak Thon community where, among other things, built a fence around a learning center at Klong Bangpai Temple.

 

Royal Thai Navy sailors spread out across Ban Chang to repair homes, schools and temples.
