And how is identifying a falsehood denying a politician his say?

Because people elected a person to speak.

If "the media" wants to be arbiters of truth and lies then thats not being a 'reporter' is it?

Media should give all sides their say in the matter, otherwise you further divide the country and <deleted> people off.

I was referring to the fact Immigration officials in most countries will tell Americans they are denied entry. However, if it boosts your self esteem to be the tough guy, go for it.

So what would you do if I expressed my opinions to your face - beat me up, or shoot me? I'm trying to remember who said violence was the last refuge of the incompetent.

Thats a bit rich after weeks of riots and assault, isn't it?

While Fauci rants on about the cases there is no mention of the substantial drop in mortality rates.

Nor is there any mention of what one can do to build up their immune system. Diet. Exercise. Attitude. Just the same stuff we have been hearing for months now.

Correct.  Got to keep the fear mongering up so that payday at the end of all the fear mongering pays off.  That vaccine will be a nice golden parachute.

Well today the USA is the last place on earth that I would travel to. I also hope that

Canada keeps the Americans from coming across the border until next year, as it

will take that long to see the numbers in the US go down.

I think a lot of Americans are like their Heinz Pickles, and you can't tell a Heinz

Pickle nothing..  So many of them think that they are the superior country and

will not listen to anyone else. Number One.  The surges in the USA are going

to just increase if they do not get a major attitude change. Good to hear that maybe

some bars will get closed. Close the beaches as the population seems to be to stupid

to social distance.  President Trump has not set a good example hardly once.

Have all of you tried his bleach cure yet?  The blonde gal doing his talks seems so

blonde!  Good Luck USA as there will likely be a lot of you dead by this time next year

especially if you are over 60 and have young teens or young adults who do not care if

they get sick with covid as they will likely survive. Ask yourselves, when is the last time

the young generation gives a dang about old people, or will stay away from them if

the young one was partying or beach going, protesting, or other crowd activities without

masks gloves or such for precautions. I think the rest of 2020 will be a rough year on

lots of people.

Geezer

Fauci ranting? Really? Please share with us a video of him doing that.

At any rate there are several reasons why deaths are down.

The most important one is that thanks to strict rules, the states of the northeast that were contributing most to deaths have drastically reduced their number of cases. Previously the bulk of deaths came from them.

Second, health care workers have learned better how to treat the ill and there are a few medications out there now that have improved the odds of survival

Third,  now, young people make up a larger proportion of the infected

But

There is a lag time between the development of symptoms and death. The average is about 3 weeks

Right now young people make up a much larger percentage of the infected. But as time goes by, it's likely that they will transmit infections to older people,

Collateral damage. ICU hospital beds are filling up in states such as Texas, Florida and Arizona. That means that not all people who are ill with other diseases, will get the care they need. So their mortality rate should rise. They may not be dead from a Covid infection, but is that an important distinction?

And authorities have noted that obesity is a major contributing factor to mortality.

I have no idea what you mean be people elected a person to speak. The elected a person to be president.

Well, to your way of thinking "reporter" apparently means "recorder". There are matters of opinion and matters of fact. For example, can you tell me how Trump's declaration that he inherited no ventilators from the Obama administration is a matter of opinion?

This was what Dr. Fauci said about drop in covid 19 mortality rates in case you missed it.

An important point to keep in mind is that it takes time before people infected with the coronavirus get sick enough to die. “Deaths always lag considerably behind cases,” Anthony Fauci, the nation’s top infectious disease specialist, said at a congressional hearing last week. A month ago, there were fewer COVID-19 cases per day, so death rates now could be reflecting those numbers. Some experts expect death rates will rise over the next month to reflect the current surge in cases,

To be fair, and I forgot to list this, it may be that some have immunity to this virus due to previous encounters with other similar viruses. No one knows much about this yet, but it could be the case. Still, you hardly want to plan what to do during a pandemic based on a hope.

Jair Bolsonaro was forced to wear a mask, maybe Trump can be forced to wear a one.

trump wears an orange mask every day. Hair and makeup staff must spend at least an hour each day making him presentable. And he still looks like a racoon.

But a mask, oh the horror.

100,000 new cases per day sounds terrible. But then the U.S.A. is number 1.

On the opposite of this,  infectious diseases specialist Prof Matteo Bassetti says Covid-19 has been losing its virulence,  " Coronavirus has downgraded from a "tiger to a wild cat" and could die out on its own without a vaccine, an infectious diseases specialist has claimed.

Prof Matteo Bassetti, head of the infectious diseases clinic at the Policlinico San Martino hospital in Italy, told The Telegraph that Covid-19 has been losing its virulence in the last month and patients who would have previously died are now recovering."

Unless Americans wear masks and recommit to social distancing, the daily increase in new cases nationwide, currently around 40,000, could reach 100,000, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told a U.S. Senate committee.

Good, herd immunity will get reached faster, not slowed down artificially again.

Maybe Fauci should look a little to other continents, Europe, Asia, cases down, deaths down, whatever the strategy was. He could learn something.

And then teach a little about working on your health, how being obese, being fat, living on junk food, makes your body much more vulnerable to this virus. Everywhere else the deaths are almost only in the age group of 65 and older, only in the US its already around 45, and probably even younger.

Is the virus targeting Americans, or are Americans more easy victims, and if so, why? Fix that.

But no, it’s all about the election now, and money, scaremongering is the game.

Now he wants Americans to wear masks. Yet I distinctly remember them saying don't wear masks it's safe to ride the packed to the gills NY subway and trains to NJ without masks. Go to hell  Fauci - all this clown is trying to do now is cover his ass. They have all been nothing more then mealy mouth worms who give nothing concrete . It's up to the herd to protect itself old style now - build up immunity and get strong.

No economy can survive a prolonged lock-down, the people are now confused. They are confused because the medical leadership of the USA - and for that matter - most of Europe - and the USA got conflicting advice from the medical professionals on what do do - they also failed to prepare - failed to sound alarms - failed in every way. The President, politicians - etc - all turned to these clowns and they simply spit garbage day after day. Time for them to simply step aside and shut their mouths. They are no longer relevant.

I am sure that in every closed door meeting him and that other woman whatever her name was left everyone at the table confused with their double sideways incomprehensible medical CYA speeches! Get lost!

Seem a convenient topic to get at Dr. Fauci from the Trumpers if taken out of context. Fauci was concerned at that time when personal protective equipment like masks including the N95 and surgical masks were in short supply and needed by the front line workers and emergency personnel and thus made that statement that masks not recommended to the general public as it was needed by the first responders. Around that time in April, the National Strategic Stockpile was depleted thanks to Trump.

The medical leadership was the best thing that was and is still happening when the nation leadership was and is still spouting non science nonsense and making false assumptions. The economic meltdown is being prolonged because of poor leader like Trump who surrendered his responsibilities to state governors to make decision rather than a federal policies. Every states were doing their own version of re-opening with some following CDC guidelines and some totally ignore.

This sounds like wishful thinking to me.  It's true that some pathogens evolve toward reduced lethality over time.  It's thought, for example, that measles and mumps originally appeared as lethal diseases as some point in the past, but have evolved to mild childhood diseases.  But that evolution, if it occurred, presumably took hundreds of years.  The six or eight months since Covid-19 appeared seems far to short for it to evolve toward less lethality, especially considering the substantial number of asymptomatic carriers (which would mitigate the need to become less lethal.)

As Coronavirus Cases Spike, Many GOP Lawmakers Back Masks and Tests

The new emphasis comes as the pandemic shifts to southern and western states

Many congressional Republicans are throwing their support behind the use of masks and robust testing as coronavirus cases spike in some GOP-led states, taking a more urgent stance on the matter than President Trump...

Faced with rising infections and hospitalizations, many GOP lawmakers representing a swath of southern and western states are increasingly urging their constituents to wear masks, socially distance and get tested.

https://www.wsj.com/articles/as-coronavirus-cases-spike-many-gop-lawmakers-back-masks-and-tests-11593270000

As the pandemic sweeps red states, Republicans belatedly get behind mask-wearing.

"On Monday afternoon, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell opened the week’s session by imploring “each family, each small business, each employer, and all levels of government to apply common sense” to combat the spread of the coronavirus, which has reasserted itself at record levels of cases over the past week. Then he got more specific.

“To name just one example,” he said, “We must have no stigma, none, about wearing masks when we leave our homes and come near other people."

And your credentials are? Or were you referring to the sitting president?

Fauci is also one of the world's leading scientists in the field of immunology.
