In Thailand are schools allowed to make children get their hair cut?

My school mandated short back and sides, the military mandated short back and sides- oooh, how terrible that I had my hair cut. Scarred me for life obviously. 55555555555555555

They take it a little too far here. And what happened to you and how you think just may have twisted you in a way or another after reading many of your posts.

Do you have Thai kids? I watched my son from early age get a mandatory hair chop cut through the whole pathetic Thai conform you system of his school life before university. Pathetic. I also had him in that special military program so would not be drafted and that was even worse.

This just came out and published in the Royal Gazette in May and these power hungry ***-***** seem to do what they want. I have met many of school directors in my day here, but honestly most are egocentric and I would never want my kids alone with them in a room.

A well kept head of hair not chopped is actually a way you give a kid identity.

Moved to the Family and Children forum.   Schools where I am require students to cut their hair very short, always have.   I seem to recall reading something recently -- as in this

Zyphodb, just phoned my wife, she reckons it is at the discretion of the school director. Best leave it alone mate, dont make waves for your daughters sake.

Well it seems like the consensus is to get her haircut, and to keep the peace as I work there too, I suppose she'll have her hair cut. bl**dy dinosaurs, to be expected of a feudal country I spose, one

The law was just flipped to allow all schools for boys and girls option to not cut their hair. But it left open a clause that allows school boards to allow a specific hairstyle for their school as long as it follows the regulations and conditions. The regulations are no perms, no bleach no facial hair.

Don't figure this was also made public in the royal Gazette.

Upon taking my daughter to school today I saw many boys that had been buzzed. I asked her if it was same at her school and she said yes. BS and an atrocity.

A haircut is not really an atrocity.

It is probably pointless and meaningless, but an atrocity? no way.

Most schools chop it way way to much. A cut and a trim I will agree with you.

Ah, yes. You brought back the memories. Early 1970s, Western Kentucky, USA. No hair over the collar length for males. no facial hair, no pantsuits for female teachers, all male teachers to wear tie and/or sport coat. Teacher couple getting a divorce was individually called into Superintendents Office to determine who was a fault and that person fired. Any teacher seen going into or out of a bar = fired. The good ole days of paternalism and nepotism. in hiring. Being a damned Yankee I caused "trouble" by questioning administrators over the years ... ha! thus sentenced economically to a retirement in a lower cost country ... such as Thailand. For me, ha! They sure showed me!!!

Nearly on topic

1981 i was again long haired doing a John Cougar Mellencamp imitation  travelling by Greyhound around the states

What a memorable experience of getting the S**t beat out of me by short haired god fearing rednecks  for having girls hair in God forsaken Meridian Mississippi...... i stayed one night which was IMHO 12 hours too much

Meridian Mississippi May you live in interesting times!

Thais and "discretion" just don't match Colin, anyway, when I was a teacher, I went to my classroom one morning, Grade 6, a mixed class, and half the class was missing, I remarked about it to one of the teachers and was told they were sent to the hairdressers to get their hair cut.

They would be thinking of her. Children bully anyone that is different. Happened in my schooldays and still does by all accounts.

She's half English with round eyes, she's always going to look different whatever her hairstyle is....

It was published in the Royal gazette they by law cannot force haircuts. The problem will be your Thai wife will be a coward, and will not fight against the director or senior teachers alone, plus you try and get a group of parents together on the matter.

You say that as though western schools educate kids instead of indoctrinating them with social justice BS.

Point taken; thank you! It still would not do any harm to stop with this "uglification" though. The social justice manure indoctrination though is facilitated by the fact, that too many parents assume that their contribution to the raising of a child is financial only; some of this BS flying around these days could easily be corrected/adjusted by caring parents who would spend some time with their next generation, don't you think so?

It's part of the system: don't stand out, don't look different, don't act different, don't be an individual. Look the same = act the same = think the same. Be a nice quiet, accepting robot to make the various governments proud. Don't question, don't challenge... accept!

How does this sit with the prevalence of slaves to fashion, rampant consumer-culture addicted vacuous idiots, social media and mobile phone zombies, and ridiculous SJWs that have zero independent thought and are willing to literally commit crimes in the name of an ideology that they have zero actual knowledge of?

Is it that they are just quiet accepting robots that are programmed by the right people?

Yes, true. You need to learn to hit back but harder than they do.
