Video: The power of community! 100 villagers pull pick-up 80 meters out of ravine

A video showed a large group of Thai hill tribe people from four villages literally pull together to get a job done.  

 

A driver had been slightly injured after a pick-up ended up eighty meters down a ravine. 

 

No one wanted the expense or difficulty in trying to get a tow truck to do the job.

 

So they turned to community power!

 

Some able bodied men went down the ravine and attached ropes. Then more than one hundred villagers - men, women, the young and old, one even with a baby on her back - pulled with all their might successfully bringing the stricken pick-up back to the Mae Sot - Um Phang Road. 

 

There was much praise on social media for the power of community spirit on display in this part of north western Thailand.

Happens all the time around here. I'm thinking it occurs mostly because of the icy conditions on the roads late at night or early morning or even midday...

They are hilltribe people and there is no stronger a community than that.  In every sense of the word.

good effort, but wasn't there a pick up or truck around that could have done the job? quicker and with less effort?

Agreed, I am very fond of these people. ????

 

In my Uni, if there is a hilltribe boy or girl, I really go out of my way, to make sure that they make it through and get their degree. Fantastic work ethic, and I reward them for that. (even though their work may be lacking ???? )

Might be a shared pickup and only 1 of a few that they have. ????
