INN reported that the army chief of defence forces General Pornphiphat Benyasri and metropolitan police chief Pol Lt-Gen Phakkhapong Pongpetra visited bars and clubs in Thong Lo, Bangkok last night on an inspection visit on the first night of reopening.

While the general recognised that those clubs that had opened were making an effort to comply with the regulations he pointed out that many could do better with social distancing.

He advised bar owners to study the regulations in detail.

The general told a mass gathering of members of the press that the prime minister wanted the economy up and running again and the people back at work.

But that is always with a caveat of "safety first" especially in high risk locations like bars and club.

He said he wants to see alcohol consumption kept to reasonable levels and all the other rules followed including the 12 midnight shutdown.

The general was there in his capacity as security advisor to the Covid-19 committee.

"army chief of defence forces General Pornphiphat Benyasri"

Why is the army involved in civilian law and order matters if Thailand is supposed to be a civilian democracy ...because in reality it's military dictatorship.

Nothing like groups of uniformed men going around bars to bring in the punters.

Yes, instead of getting out on the roads and busting the many bad drivers.

According to forum rules you are a bit too outspoken. But I can't refrain from quoting you..
