A way for Thailand to heal the tourist industry

Recommended Posts

OP, same thing has been going on at "the beach" island down in Krabi. Closed for over a year already and only planning to re-open sometime next year.

As most people know Boracay...

I seem not to be "most people", as I had to Google "Boracay" to realize that a once famous Philippine party island became boring...:whistling:

Can you explain what you are talking about?

Some very popular beaches have been closed in Thailand starting last year, but during the emergency decree when most beaches have been closed automatically, they have recovered.

I think that most people did not know.
I had to google Boracay as I had never heard of it. You might at least have mentioned that it is in the Phillipines.

What are "flinging tourists"????

Strange topic!

it's going to be a new sport in Thailand, in the vein of 'tossing midgets' - those found on overstay or covid will be put on a giant slingshot and flung into the Andaman..

While it might have been an idea to employ some people and upgrade the facilities in some tourist areas that isn't what will restore their tourist industry.  First of all it is too early to do so.  Making an effort too soon will result in chaos and long term more damage to their industry.  Wait til the world knows we are at the tail end of the virus then act.

What will aid in restoring their tourism sector is a couple of things.

1)  Make getting Visas really easy and free.  Make it so anyone can stay 60 days on arrival.

2)  Fund their national airline or find some way to make flying to Thailand cheap.

3)  Devalue the baht making it once again an inexpensive vacation spot.

Really that is all it would take.  The natural tendency of the Thais to apply capitalist offers to tourists will take care of the rest.

until they have confidence in the healthcare system the government will not allow large numbers

If this would be the case, the country would have an eternal lockdown.

Do you want someone to apply the bum gun when you're finished as well?

From that what I understood, Boracay became a sterile and overregulated and therefore boring island. All the flair and fun has gone. Duterte is one of the world's prime funbusters.

The beauty of Thaivisa.  Post an idea or thought and get back snarky comments.  No one should wonder why intelligent posters disappear.

... attached to a jet ski and there better not be any damage to the jet ski otherwise that's an immediate 100k baht repair bill.
