Anutin Stresses Safety in Phase 5 of Eased Restrictions

BANGKOK(NNT) - More activities are allowed to resume, including businesses that are considered to be most at risk of spreading the feared virus, such as entertainment venues. Public health authorities are working hard to monitor the venues and ensure all parties comply with the regulations.

Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy PM and Minister of Public Health called an online conference this week with directors of provincial public health offices, and directors of hospitals all over the country, to assign policy to be followed in the new Phase 5 easing of restrictions.

He stressed that all health sectors must be prepared for an emergency situation especially with the anticipated arrival of international visitors. The disease control department and the department of medical sciences will use COVID-19 rapid test kits to avoid congestion in screening.

Entertainment venues and restaurants must be strict in screening customers and ensure their patrons follow all the regulations. If there is any outbreak of infection related to a venue, the venue will be charged over the incident . The ministry will also send officers to randomly inspect entertainment venues and restaurants to ensure the safety of all involved.

As for schools, there must be screening of students every morning. If any student is found to have a high fever, the whole class of students won’t be allowed to enter the school building. If they are identified during lessons, they will be detained individually in a room prepared for an emergency situation, until a medical team arrives.

The problem we've got here is that Thailand lacks confidence, justifiably so. The health system was stretched in the main hospitals for covid patients when the outbreak was at its peak. They fear a second wave which could potentially be worse.

Unlike Europe and UK which is now opening up international travel even without eradicating the virus, they are doing so because they anticipate and have the confidence that they will be able to contain the clusters that will obviously occur.

Life has to go on, international travel needs to open up as long as you have the health system to cope and the measures in place for tracing and isolating.

yes - there is no money to be made in treating your own people

Forcing foreigners into very expensive local run health insurance (scam) which they likely will never use or has so many exclusions it is worthless, doesn't matter if you already have had your own cover for years

Think most people seem to be failing to see that the idea was to spread the virus for the health system to cope, not eradicate it without a vaccine - nice though the idea is

Anutin leading by example again, NOT. Every time you see a photo of this clown he is without his mask, surrounded by all his 'yes sir' minions, and no social distancing being practiced. This is the same person that keeps harping on about the importance of social distancing in malls, restaurants, wearing masks on beaches F_F_S. Anutin should visit his local market (if he knows where it is) and see how everybody if following all the rules, in BKK on the SkyTrain people are packed in like sardines... God help us if he ever becomes PM.

I am not going to criticize the Governments handling of as maybe they got lucky but whatever happened they dodged the big bullet.

His statement on reopening of the country to overseas people is no matter what the knockers say here

the next big hurdle & very difficult to predict where he is right again.

The next 6 months is a very dangerous time for the health of every person living in Thailand & they

are trying to balance that with sooner or later economic reovery.

I would not blame bars for denial of entry to their bars if having arrived in Thailand in the last 20 days

I was out on Patpong on Wednesday- night!

Police- patrol started at 5:30!

NOT ONE of them, wearing masks!

And when the rain started, the little sugarpoof- monsters all huddled up under the roofs of the bars and restaurants- no social distancing needed!

Leading by example, I guess!
