Driving licence question re letter of residency

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I had a quick look but couldn't find an answer to my question, which is,

If my letter of residency is from Kohn Kaen immigration, can I renew my licence at any land transport office, or does it have to be in KK province?

TIA

I understand not, but others may know better.  As I understand the rules, you must get your C of R from the immigration office in which you are registered and that Province DLT is where you go to get your DL.  Having said that, a mate of mine in Chon Buri province, registered with the Jomtien Immigration office, swears blind that he can go to the Rayong DLT to re new his licence.  Not sure if this is entirely true. Not sure how helpful this is for you,  but if you stick to your local Immigration Office and DLT Office you can't be wrong.

and does anyone know if the d/l amnesty has finished?

I can only speak for the Pattaya /Bang Lamung Office.  They will begin to renew licences for foreigners on 20th July .  I have this from the office itself when I went to check.   They are not taking any more bookings for renewals, you will just have to take a ticket and wait. Race you there  ????
