You do realise that there is not much virus circulating in the community apart from some care homes and certain factories with certain ethnicites working in those factories which were not not people enjoying the pubs over the weekend!

Yes, theres not much virus circulating because people have been at home and social distancing .

What will happen when everyone starts mingling again remains to be seen

Could have a second wave and you'll all be in lock-down again

It is irrelevant how the UK or the rest of Europe are doing, I'm here in Thailand - I don't give a <deleted> how they handle it in the UK as it doesn't affect me at all.

All I care about is how Thailand is handling it and all I see is lies from day 1.

But this is a topic about the UK

Not so much, it's about a tit for tat reaction by the UK.

This kind of thing is to be expected, those diplomats are very sensitive you know ????

Havent lost the plot mate, its a fact that the UK messed up and is among the worst hit in the EU. So why is mentioning that bashing all of a sudden.

Brits here bash Thais all the time, just look at any topic and you will see how all Thais are tarred with the same brush. Now there is some bad news about the UK and me putting in the spotlight and they are all crying.

That would be a valid point on ‘ukrules.com’ the forum for and about the ThaiVisa.com poster who goes by the name ‘ukrules’.....  :coffee1:

In my country we got more and more idiots that want to forget about all measures. Thankfully the goverment so far is not giving in. Thailand at least is doing stuff and everyone is moaning about the rules. But so far it has worked.

Strange as Thailand has almost no Covid 19 infections and the UK is exactly the opposite.  One would expect the 14 days quarantine the otherway around. Stupid British People ! They don't listen and will probably get a even bigger second wave ! This does not make sense at all.

Maybe Thailand didn't want it!  Or just forgot to ask!

After all, many holidaymakers who go to the UK will return with the virus, and besides it's a net money loser for Thailand!

Certainly, there's is no obvious reason.

I would tend to agree with that  -  except from two angles:-

1. I have family in the UK and I would like to see a cautious unlocking to help ensure their good health. There are too many f00kwits as evidenced by the lemming approach to pub openings. Thailand understood that and their paranoid approach to Songkran (well handled) and other prohibitions helped prevent the Thai f00kwits spoiling the excellent Covid-19 numbers.

2. My income is derived from the UK and I do support the government's efforts to get the economy moving again. Owning a crematorium has been something of a bonus for me. but I do feel for those who are dependent on getting their income from the harder hit areas of industry.

Tell me how im racist by just reporting the news ? By just telling how the UK messed up ? Sound more that people don't want to admit how badly the UK has done.

And yes im a bloody Cloggie, but not one that would defend idiots in my country or mistakes made by my government. (far from perfect in my country)

Its a fair point...  The UK is in a mess - mentioning facts and the fact that the UK has high numbers is not ‘Brit-Bashing’ that said I feel the media is vastly exaggerating the situation in the press.

In my area of the UK there have apparently been no new cases for 60 days (according to a local Dr. I know).

Yet the City of Leicester is locked down again due to another outbreak.

I think there will be pockets of outbreaks and local lockdowns in many areas of the UK as the virus spreads and cycles through the nation in re-surging pockets.

Thailand is completely isolated (if the official figures are correct), once Thailand does open up there will also be pockets of outbreaks etc - this will fit into the Anutin’s ‘blame the foreigner’ rhetoric.

The key issue Thailand faces is that it can’t remain ‘water tight’ for years, or if it tried the economical damage will be extreme.

Yes at some point they will have to open the borders, its either economic problems or health problems.

So far the Thais don't want the borders opened yet (except those in tourist sector)

Your a bit naive to what is happening here, 500,000 on Bornemouth's beaches, street/block parties, park parties, illegal raves, protests, friends coming around and no spike in cases. People have been socialising for weeks before last weekend.

I think everyone would agree that Thailand hasn't suffered the large number of deaths from covid-19 that some other countries have experienced.

But, what if there were 200 deaths a day?  Spread around the country.  wouldn't be noticed ????

How can the virus  spread evenly perfectly like that? Like 3 death per province?

Use logical common sense.

There must be expolding epicenter somewhere that can not hiden like what is happening in Peru , Ecuador or Brazil.

Well, Those nations are as "3rd world" and corrupted as Thailand but the situation is so different.

No, I don't agree. It's possible that Thailand has had Covid 19-related deaths on par with Italy, France, and Spain and they were spread out in time and space so that there were no mounds of dead bodies to trip over and no common Thai folk became magically aware of the aggregate public health data and alerted us via social media. The data obtained from the Thai DOPH and provided as the data set with that NYT article is more consistent with that scenario than the one in which only 58 people have died of it. One doesn't need to be a math wizard (just someone with access to a calculator and with addition, subtraction, and division skills) to see the big increase starting in May of 2019 and continuing through the last reported month (April 2020).

Travellers from Thailand must quarantine for 14 days when entering the UK. Clarification late on Friday night is disappointing news for Thai authorities as the kingdom, earlier in the week, was green-lighted by the European Union.

Oh, the irony

British want to enter Thailand much more than Thais want to enter UK.

This is a political move by the UK and its allies against China and its allies.

Anyway, who wants to go to UK with the virus raging there?

and who wants to go to thailand with 37 baht=£1?

Has it escaped everybody's attention that for its part, Thailand will not allow visitors from the UK, or indeed most other countries into Thailand, except in absolute exceptional, almost impossible to comply with, circumstances. Also regarding number of tests etc, under the current decree, it is illegal to seek information or confirmation from medical organisations, hospitals or any other body, as to the veracity or otherwise of the government issued figures.

Now i wonder why the UK will not allow Thai nationals to enter??
