Thai-American now a serious VP contender

Why Me

Recommended Posts

Not sure where this belongs but Tammy Duckworth's stock is rising in the US VP stakes:

For those who don't know she's a disabled war hero with an American father and Thai mother and currently a Senator. She was born in Bkk and is fluent in Thai (check her out on Youtube). Incidentally, given Biden's age/health it's widely accepted that if he wins then his VP will become President sooner rather than later.

Interesting.

However, if he wants the large number African American vote, he needs to pick one.

Thai and related votes will be a lot less of an influence in the election.

After the current events I can't see African Americans voting for Trump (thought he has admittedly improved their economic lot significantly). Tammy will seen as a minority candidate herself, not just Thai-Chinese.

Apologies. But I just logged out of WaPo and went in again without signing in. It lets me read the article after making me turn off ad-block and putting up a prominent sign-up offer.

No. Wapo allows a number of free articles per month so if you want to read it you can.

Nice way to start off a conversation with a offensive remark!

The genius is  google!

Oh by the way, The Intercept news agency reported

"THERE’S A WAR GOING ON OVER KAMALA HARRIS’S WIKIPEDIA PAGE, WITH UNFLATTERING ELEMENTS VANISHING"

They went on to say ,this is what happen to HC pick before she announced him

Sorry you are offended. But it would seem obvious that the DNC/Biden team would look at a person's eligibility as a first step. Which means Tammy is eligible.

As for Wikipedia edits there's always a war raging over any polarizing person's page. Pick any prominent politician, red or blue, and see their page edit trails. But it's easy enough to find out about a person by poking around in the web/youtube.

She was born a citizen of USA.

Yup I looked at the birth place and noticed it was Thailand. I knew the father was American .Then I looked for the requirements for office which said natural born , The natural born led me to believe she must be born in the USA. Fair enough!

Sorry Why

From brief Google it is confusing and has been taken to highest court levels as was never clearly defined.  But judgement today is that it applies to anyone getting citizenship by birth.

Not without removing the 31 munchies they added to my system!

After removing can read it.  I did exceed articles last month but it never reset so appears once on the bad side you stay there until you eat the cookies.

Exactly. Do you remember Obama? No one questioned wether or not he was US citizen, but if his birthplace was Hawaii or Kenya.

Cruz was running  and Bennet ran . So

Like I said it was confusing since the requirement said natural born

Natural born what does it mean ?

This requirement was intended to protect the nation from foreign influence according to wiki

An exemplary and brave lady indeed. Better not push the Thai/American connection to much as simple searches reveal the it was her American Father responsible for her upbringing, not her Thai Mum who abandoned her apparently.  Now where have we read that before ? A bit like Alex Albon the F1 racer who has received millions in support from Thai sponsors, always of course ignoring the fact that his Thai Mum received a 7 year jail sentence in the UK for Fraud. Google is  good for finding facts.

And where is the proof that supports your claim?

The Constitution for the United States of America.  It's quite clear.

Stadtler has read it many times.

Have you?
