I'm starting to find the world a very ugly place to live.

The rich getting richer, the poor getting poorer...

Air you can't breathe, water you can't drink, food that's dangerous to eat. Drug resistant diseases. Dictators and would-be dictators, ignorant citizens who empower them. Police shown to be racists who kill and abuse their own citizens. Apathy, propaganda, alternate "facts", etc etc etc...  And I didn't even mention pandemics.

What's not to like???   :ninja:

The bad news may not be over. Thanks Willy

My nookie days are over,
My pilot light is out.
What used to be my sex appeal,
Is now my water spout.
Time was when, on its own accord,
From my trousers it would spring.
But now I’ve got a full time job,
To find the gosh darn thing.
It used to be embarrassing,
The way it would behave.
For every single morning,
It would stand and watch me shave.
Now as old age approaches,
It sure gives me the blues.
To see it hang its little head,
And watch me tie my shoes!!

The secret to being happy in Thailand is to leave at least once a year for a few months so that you appreciate the place and its people when you return. The you don't know what you got until it's gone principle.
It is normal to become jaded with some of the difficulties of living in a foreign country without considering the benefits. I have lived and worked in many countries around the world and in each place most expats complained about the the country and the locals. When these people returned to their birth country they complained about it and fondly reminisced about the foreign country they left.

The media - social and mainstream - are partially to blame, focusing on bad news as it sells. Never let facts get in the road of a bad story.

People in general do not want to take responsibility for their own happiness and prefer to blame other people and events for their own state of mind. The answer - take control - there is always an option.

Look on the bright side of life.

I'm trying to maintain my own little personal "bubble," hiding out here in TH.

Pick pretty girls with big boobs and life is sweet again!

Nobody loves pretty girls more than me, but I do not really go for overdeveloped boobs.

I think the 'good old days' is just a myth - Its a faded memory that has nothing to do with the real world as such. The big difference is the instant news - and since bad news in good news - and since most people have the attention span of a fly - News is all about sensationalism and a 30 sec quick buss ....  And not about understand 'Why' ..  Its the same s....t we always have shoveled ... it just 'look a bit different now' ... but its 'same same' ...

The thing that bugs me more than anything is all the greed, selfishness and hypocrisy you see everywhere.

The trick is not let that get you down and focus on positive things .... (not always easy 555 ... but one have to keep trying .....)

"The thing that bugs me more than anything is all the greed, selfishness and hypocrisy you see everywhere".  I think that would mainly apply to about 95% of the worlds politicians.

I am glad I got to live at the right time, when you could play

outside all day without fear of been abducted, great time at

school,no kids killing each other, then the 60s,such fond

memories,I worked at business I loved doing,retired at 42,

came to Thailand, have had a great time here, but the way

the World is turning out now.......too many people..

regards worgeordie

I can not deny population growth but I do not see that as the crisis ... yet. I think it is more a not having a fairer distribution of resources. We have not yet reached the point where we can not feed nor have enough “wealth” (agreed a human construct) to make the income/wealth gap much smaller. Only greed and lack of leadership ... and the bottom line, will of humanity to move things in a more positive direction.

The world is a very ugly place.

The world is a beautiful place.

Its up to us which part we want to see and live in.

For me the world is beautiful.

This is what I want so I choose the beauty.  Which one do you wasn’t to live in??

A lot of very good posts with good arguments, nice to see that.

To the op,some people are pessimists, some are optimists,i like to see myself as a realist.

The internet?A step towards heaven or a step towards hell, you pick.

You want to really feel bad about things going on?Try Youtube.

You want to really feel good about things going on?Try Youtube.

Why we sometimes say,the good old days?

We did not know any better.

Thru the ages the chance of getting killed by another human being has steadily declined.

Over population? There is a light on the horizon.

Climate change? We have to learn to deal with it.

What i do worry about is the me me attitude, too much aggression after a small conflict.

It is what it is,is it?

We see what we want to see is more like it.
