Almost certainly the records will show he's a lying crook who swindled individuals and governments and, unfortunately, almost certainly it will matter not a bit to his followers.

Agree, but it may have legal consequences.

No one IS immune.  There is this government agency called the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) that audits and verifies everyones tax return.  Including presidents, senators, etc.  Trumps are sent into the same organization as everyone else's.

And the IRS is forbidden to disclose tax information (unless under a court ordered subpoena) and the IarS is under which branch of the government (as is all law enforcement)?

Yeah, but it gives the left so much hope.  Every other avenue they've tried has failed so maybe, just maybe, this will be their 'golden goose' to nail Trump.  Please, Kelsall, don't take away the left's hopes and fairy dreams.  That's cruel.

They did use to call Trump "Teflon Don" because they couldn't get anything to stick to him.  We all know he is a bottom feeding conman but proving it is often the difficult bit.

Wasn't Clinton nicknamed Teflon Bill?

Oh and I see Trumps tax returns right over there.  Beneath Obamas college records and Kerry's military records. ????

You all are too much.  Same old <deleted> every year and yet people fall for it.

This trump tax return gong show will likely drag on for years, well after he's reelected in Nov, and nobody will get them unless they are leaked.

Trump was a millionaire/billionaire prior to assuming public office whereas the shumers, clintons, bidens, pelosis, obamas, etc became millionaires AFTER taking public office and I would much rather have a look at those tax returns any day!

Clintons already provided theirs. Obama provided his. Biden is not president, yet.

Trump said its a witch hunt, a hoax, and no president has been treated so badly by the supreme court.

Yet mcenany said it was a victory for trump. So which was it?

Incredible.

Everyone has to disclose their tax documents if the strong arm of the tax authorities so requires.

What is so bad about it?

It's a normal process.

And it is particularly important for government officials and politicians to guarantee independence from third parties. Trump is nothing more than an employee of the US population.

How, if not through an audit, the population can check that he does not enrich himself in office, accepts bribes for the benefit of other states and adheres himself to tax laws to avert disadvantages and damage to the population for the benefit of the people who he work for as an employer.

The United States is degenerating into a muppet show, where even the most highest ranging civil servants shiiiiting on the legal system, moral and decency.

He is hardly going to declare any dubious income, it would be "laundered" through the golf clubs and any family company. I am sure lifetime memberships to the clubs and the hotel clubs are not inexpensive, and leasing condos well now there is a chance to launder

Not sure if he's attained billionaire status but looking at these articles he may well in fact be one:

FEC Disclosures

In May 2016, Trump released his Personal Financial Disclosure (PFD) form with the Federal Election Commission. In true Trump fashion, he was quick to let everyone know. “I filed my PFD, which I am proud to say is the largest in the history of the FEC," Trump said.1

The PFD revealed Trump had:

  • At least $1.4 billion in assets, including several golf courses and real estate properties valued at more than $50 million.4
  • Over $300 million in income from the golf courses and resorts.4
  • Over $100 million in rental income and sales from his property.4
  • Between $25 million and $50 million parked in BlackRock's Obsidian fund.5
  • At least $250 million in liabilities on Trump Tower, 40 Wall Street, Trump National Doral and Trump Old Post Office.6

Forbes Estimate

Forbes has shaved $1 billion from from Donald Trump's net worth as the economic impact of coronavirus takes a toll on his property empire. As of April 2020, Forbes estimated his assets at $2.1 billion, compared with $3.1 billion in October 2019 and $4.5 billion in September 2015.7 In particular, Forbes said Trump's 125,000 square feet of prime real estate near Fifth Avenue in Manhattan was taking a hit. Also, it marked down the value of his residential properties, noting stocks of publicly listed apartment owners had dropped by a third.8

Fortune Estimate

In May 2016, Fortune magazine estimated Trump was worth $3.9 billion, up from $3.7 billion in 2015. Fortune said the revenue listed in his personal financial disclosure did not fit the net worth of someone with $10 billion. However, the magazine believed the 2016 presidential campaign had a positive effect on his finances. "Rather than damaging his brand, Trump’s notoriety appears to be boosting his business, and making him even wealthier. By our best calculations, Trump’s net worth has indeed grown over the 10 months since the last filing," Fortune said.9

Bloomberg Estimate

The Bloomberg Billionaires Index estimated Trump to be worth $2.97 billion as of April 2020, a notch lower from the $3.02 billion it estimated at the start of his presidency.10 While Trump has estimated his brand to be worth $3.3 billion, Bloomberg did not put much stock in the figure. It valued his brand at just $35 million.11

The Bottom Line

Whether it's less than $3 billion or more than $10 billion, as he claims, it's safe to assume he is a billionaire, so the exact amount doesn't really matter. However, Trump campaigned for the presidency on the size of his wealth. When announcing his presidential bid, Trump said: "I'm using my own money. I'm not using the lobbyists. I'm not using donors. I don't care. I'm really rich. And by the way, I'm not even saying that's the kind of mindset, that's the kind of thinking you need for this country. So, because we got to make the country rich."12

'Judge Napolitano Schools Fox News on Trump's SCOTUS ‘Defeat’'

“The truth here is this is a big defeat for Trump,” noting that the court “rejected the entire premise” of the president’s defense in the case. “What the Supreme Court said in sending this back is unambiguous,” he added, “which is that Trump is going to see these things released to prosecutors and it’s not going to take that long because they’re ready to go.”

Quite right too. They need something to cling to, given the catastrophe that is Biden.

Sadly for them, the returns won't be making any difference to the election, but expect another witch hunt after the election when they claim he's hidden the "bad stuff" they can't find in the returns. Frankly, if Trump was so stupid as to put evidence of wrong doing on documents subject to government audit he deserves to be arrested for it.

Far as I'm concerned if the government tax auditors couldn't find anything it's because there is nothing to find.

However, I hope the usual suspects keep harping on about it as we all need entertainment in these dark days.

Sorry to break this to you buddy but he will lose.

Then he will be fully legally exposed.

He's running to keep his fat presidential butt out of prison.

Dreaming!

If I were to play devil's advocate and say that Trump was in fact a crook and had done bad things that were able to be found, all he'd have to do after losing to escape justice would be to hop on a private jet and fly off to Russia where his bestest buddy Putin would have a fine dacha waiting for him where he could see out his last years in luxury.

But this isn't the IRS asking him.  They already have them and one has to assume in his tax bracket audit them every year.  It is his political opponents asking for them so they can sift through with a fine toothed comb and find ANYTHING that could be spun as illegal or unethical.  Just as they have done over and over again with other issues.  Like the latest bogus assault about Russians putting bounties on our troops.  Or the original Russian collusion.

But heck, I'm OK with he being forced to show them.  Just so long as we understand it goes both ways.  I want to see Biden's sons returns.  I want Obamas college transcripts opened up.  Kerry's military records unsealed.  If we are going to seriously do due diligence on Trump open it wide up.  And let's have a serious inquiry into Hillary's use of a private server, and Benghazi........

The funniest thing in all this is the right wingers who thought Hillary would go to jail.  And now the left wingers think Trump is going to jail.  ????????
