Thank you Mr.President for righting  this corrupt abuse of power. The liberals won`t like this. Liberals are so funny.

Mitt Romney has nailed this perfectly:   “Unprecedented, historic corruption: an American president commutes the sentence of a person convicted by a jury of lying to shield that very preside

The esteemed and famous Lincoln Project, notably a group of republicans that ironically produces much more aggressive messaging than the democrats, is out with a response to the Stone news.

The convicted felon stone fired a shot across the bow last week when he spoke of the fact "I could have turned on 45 but I protected him". stone has a history of singing when faced with punishment, as he---like 45 and his people---are ultimately abject cowards at their core. Clearly 45, who has been 'friends' with stone since the mid 1980s, both knew stone's history as well as what stone knows that could result in 45's criminal indictment.

Thus, only days before stone was to report to prison, 45 used the camouflage of Coward Hour on a Friday July night to further abuse and disgrace the office of the Presidency and issue a commutation.

Some charges against stone remain, however, and when Rule of Law returns to the US in January 2021, stone will again face conviction and imprisonment, and if his history is any guide, he will sing then and 45 will have to face the music.

Given the need to remind the American people and the world that everyone is equal under the law and no one is above it, it is likely that if convicted, 45 and his cohorts (family) will go to jail. There is precedent in developed countries for the jailing of a former leader, most notably in SOuth Korea, where at least two formers rulers were sent to prison for their crimes.

So it shall be in the United States.

You seem to be under the impression that he (Stone) will still be alive at this time.

Far fetched? Lets see.

Odd then that Trump commuted Stone’s sentence rather than pardon his crimes.

Stone remains a convicted felon, his only gain here is he’s not yet going to prison.

Trump just gave him an extra couple months of freedom, coming January he will back in

Barr: It would be a crime for president to pardon someone in exchange for their silence

"Do you believe a president could lawfully issue a pardon in exchange for the recipient's promise not incriminate him?" Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) asked Barr during his confirmation hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

"No, that would be a crime," Barr said.

This would explain the reports that barr was very much against trump springing stone.

For the record...

stone was prosecuted by the government

stone was tried on seven (7) counts

stone was found guilty by a jury of his peers

stone was sentenced to 40 months in prision

stone remains a convicted felon

Im almost daily surprised at how much free rein the USA  allows its President ! It allows him  to intefere with all kinds of instruments of the nation- military , Post Office ( <deleted>! ) courts , electoral office, National Parks , etc , etc .... is there anything he is forbidden to mess with as our Prime Ministers are ?

There are Monarchies in the world that are much less tolerant of this sort of open manipulation and meddling with the Nation !

And by law and order, I mean "you break the law, I order your sentence commuted."

In short , what is the reasoning behind having all the  'trimmings' of a democracy , the allowing a President to act like an Emperor ?

No reason.

It's insane.

The USA is losing our democracy.

Reelect this corrupt con man and its over.

It's this president specifically. He's pushing it over the edge. Definitely not what the founders intended.

Interesting his sentence was commuted. He was not pardoned. He is still guilty.

Pardoning would have meant that he could be made to testify in court without fifth amendment claims (right to not self-incriminate).

This got me thinkin about how Stone's testimony, could play a significant role in Durham's  criminal investigation of the mueller prosecutors ! And now mueller comes out of hiding to defend the people that are under criminal investigation just when Durham is about to... lol . There below, is the best part ,his quote "the women and men acted with the highest integrity". Mr. Flynn's attorney  is Lhao on that remark.

"We made every decision in Stone's case, as in all our cases, based solely on the facts and the law and in accordance with the rule of law. The women and men who conducted these investigations and prosecutions acted with the highest integrity. Claims to the contrary are false," Mueller wrote.
