SURVEY: Gay Marriage--Good for Thailand or not?

Thailand is in the preliminary stages of making same sex civil partnerships legal.   Although civil partnerships grants some rights, it falls short of full marriage.   Which of the options best fits your opinion.

Civil partnerships are a sop and merely a stepping stone to full marriage equality. Many countries in the world have already demonstrated that gay marriage does not lead to the end of societies or hell on earth. Equality through full marriage for gays is the only just outcome unless straight couples are also limited to civil partnerships.

 

I might add that gay marriage should never be put to a referendum. It should be enacted as a human right. The casual use of referenda for gay marriage or legalising of homosexuality can be used by despotic governments to legitimise their prejudices through populism and electoral fraud.

Pedophilia is a complete separate issue from gay marriage. The majority of pedophilia are in the straight community, but many consider sex with underaged girls less serious than with boys. Sad.

 

Alcoholism is considered a condition, but any harm caused from this condition should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

 

 Would full marriage of gay people allow marriage visa for Thailand? Civil unions would not likely apply to immigration.

 

But also true, giving rights or privileges to certain groups often leads to more demands. Look at BLM for example.

    What in the world does pedophilia have to do with gay marriage rights?  If you're going to use that warped reasoning, you probably should have also thrown nymphomania into the argument.  And, maybe agoraphobia, while you're at it--if gays get the right to marry in Thailand it might lead to some people being afraid to leave their homes.  Like bbi1.

It's illegal to be LGBT in 70 countries, and you could be given the death penalty in 12 countries. In Iran, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Sudan this death penalty is regularly imposed across the county. Civil partnerships that are legally the equivalent to marriage, absolutely right.  'Marriage', well it depends on what you believe to be the definition of marriage.  This is a very personal view,  and in my mind its nothing to do with religion, but to me, 'marriage' is between a man and a woman, not same sex couples. This is also controversial, but I believe that adoption, and indeed parenthood,  should be restricted to married couples.  Kids need the balance of a male and female partnership to foster their own development and growth. Again, I realise that this is not a view shared by many others.

I'm not supporting that old cliched phrase, but as a general point, everything that happened, or was believed,  prior to 2020 was not all wrong.  Just because something is 'modern thinking', doesn't automatically make it right.  A lot of modern thinking is off the wall and plain wrong, we have seen that in the last few years in a number of controversial areas.

I know some gay couples with kids in my home country.

I do not have a problem with it.

They are:

Mostly well off financially.

Kind people.

Good parents they spend a lot of time and appreciate being parents.

The divorce rates amongst gays is much lower then hetero.

 

Not sure what the big deal is they seem happy so..

Surely the misnomer is "gay Marriage", 

All people should have the right to Marriage Equality irrespective of sexual orientation.

 

Personally I have never wanted marriage to any gender, I do not require a piece of paper to legitimise my relationship.

I support the right to Marriage Equality though for all.

Two things will save Thailand, gayness and legalising marijuana. Both are pretty ubiquitous already, why they just don't make it legal is beyond me. I suppose it will interrupt some income streams. The powers that be are on a losing wicket if you ask me, this whole China centric thing, is pushing upstream, we're mostly onto their game now, in the West. China is having difficulty not imploding, as indeed is the US. Their seems to be an optimal level for Empire, after that it just all falls apart.
