Fresh Eggs

I've been buying my eggs from the same source for years, but just recently  the whites have been very thin. It might be because they are getting their supply from a different wholesaler. Still taste OK.

Can anybody recommend where to buy the freshest eggs in Pattaya

Big C or Tesco. Their turnover is high and if you always check the date of production they are pretty fresh. Also, being stored in an air con mall they are less likely to go off in the heat. The smaller the size the better.

Is there such a thing as a good spell of food poisoning?

I expect there is degrees like slight, moderate and bad, food poisoning, but doubt any is good. Having a slow day?

if you actually want nice eggs
i suggest you go to foodland
buy the antibiotic free eggs
they do too brands in foodland
S-pure and another with "organic" on label

bit pricey but your health is priceless
and they taste great
just like eggs used to be

For the past 60 years eggs have always tasted the same to me.

If you think the taste has changed, it's more likely something wrong with you.

They tasted far better 60 years ago, I was much hungrier by gum!

"No" would have  sufficed, but then you wouldn't have got your sarcasm in.  Shame.

maybe you just do not pay that much attention to what you put inside your body

if all your eggs have had the same taste and consistency in 60 years
then it is apparent you are not that observant
myself having been an international head chef for over a decade, well.......
maybe just maybe, i pay just a tad more attention to the quality of food

if memory serves me correctly
you also recommend palm oil as a substitute for butter
and use it in your cooking????‍♂️

no doubt the eggs i mention are beyond your price range
so you may convince yourself there is no difference
(just like palm oil Vs butter LOL)
but each to their own.

I used to keep my own chickens (4) back in the UK, free range in the garden.

Taste was still the same, yolks were a stronger yellow.

I put that down to them only eating fresh food.

I did keep a few ducks (2) in Thailand, again free range in the garden.

Yolks were bigger, taste was slightly stronger than chicken eggs.

Shells were a lot harder to crack.

The ducks used to fly at head height beside me while I was cycling along the road.

The chickens always wanted to sit beside anyone out in the garden.

Both species were good pets, but the duck poop was a lot more intrusive.

In 7/11 in the fridges where butter etc is, are packs of very fresh eggs, 4 eggs in a transparent box, think they are 30/35 baht. Very good. Not the ones on shelves.

What is your problem with the 7Eleven eggs on the shelves (CP brand)? The eggs on the shelves, the 10 for 55 baht are very good. There's no need for 7Eleven eggs to be refrigerated - they run out of stock everyday in all stores I frequent, so they never last a day on the shelves.

I judge the quality of eggs on the shells. If I can boil refrigerated eggs put straight into boiling water without cracking, they get my nod of approval.

The taste can vary quite a bit depending on what the hens are fed. If you can't taste differences, then perhaps there is something wrong with you.

Some of the omega-3 eggs for sale here have an unpleasant and distinctly fishy taste and I avoid them despite sellers claims of health benefits.

They’re all the same right enough, even the protein, vitamin values between battery and free range are all the same.

Its just a fashion thing to use bs terms like organic and happy chickens.

Fried up with ketchup all eggs are equal.

No, it hasn't gone up for years. There are 2 brands, one is 55 baht and other 60 baht (for 10). I don't care about 5 or 10 baht here or there and I don't live in the UK. It's the convenience of being able to get good quality eggs easily, 24 hours a day that I appreciate, and the price is about the same as in the supermarkets if you're buying or 10's or 12's. Sometimes I pick up trays at Tesco for under 100 baht, but carrying them on the motorcycle is awkward if I have a load of shopping to carry.
