Package "HELD" at Bangkok Mail Centre

Your item is being held in Customs at 10:58 am on July 9, 2020 in BANGKOK MAIL CENTRE, THAILAND.

Now 5 days later the package addressed to Stadtler has not moved, nor has Stadtler received a notice in the post about this package.

Where is this Bangkok Mail Centre?

There are no drugs or contraband for Thailand in the package.  Where would Stadtler have to go to get his package and what is involved with customers when they "hold" a package? Normally packages are delivered to Stadtler's post office and Stadtler gets a notice from the mailman to come pay and pick up the package.

Nearly all incoming mail passes through the office at Lak Si:

Bangkok EMS Centre Lak Si Soi 5 (Postal Customs Service Division)

13.879988,100.576045

This GPS location is absolutely accurate. That's quite important because there are several Thai Post buildings in that area.

Af first call the post callcenter and ask if it's just a delay or you need to do something.

Occasionally you have to visit customs and open the package in their office where they inspect the contents, has happened to me twice so far. But in this case you usually get a paper informing you about it, could of course be that this got lost.

Never heard of import tax?

Items that have duty to be paid are not normally held at the Bangkok Post Centre, they are sent to the local post office covering the addressee's area which then sends an advice of the duty payable so that it can be paid and collected locally.

Did you miss this quote: "Your item is being held in Customs at 10:58 am on July 9, 2020 in BANGKOK MAIL CENTRE, THAILAND."

THP Contact Center 1545.  Call them and ask them, they speak English.

If you haven't had an advice from them yet the chances are that the delivery process is just delayed and, in due course, you'll either get the item delivered or a duty payable advice from the post office that covers your area.

No, I didn't miss it.

Did you miss that he hasn't had any advice delivered to him yet?   That quote is probably from when he tracked it online.  If he'd had the advice sent to him he wouldn't be asking where he has to go to get it, would he, as it's location and duty payable will be on that official advice, won't it?
