webfact
Ministry to prepare 50,000 new graduates for jobs in 'new normal' By THE NATION Digital Economy and Society Minister Buddhipongse Punnakanta Digital Economy and Society Minister Buddhipongse Punnakanta said his ministry was working with the Federation of Thai Industries, the Thai Chamber of Commerce, the Thai Bankers Association and CAT Telecom to give new graduates new digital skills for professional life after Covid-19. “CAT Telecom had proposed that a part of the budget granted to the ministry be used to promote employment in the IT field,” he said. “Owing to the new normal in the aftermath of Covid-19, the job market will require candidates with strong digital skills, especially for e-commerce operators who are seeing a growing demand for their products.” Candidates will also be provided a Bt10,000 monthly allowance during the three-month training course, so they can support themselves. “We are targeting 50,000 candidates, and each can choose two of the four available courses, including content creation, big-data management, digital marketing and e-commerce promotion,” the minister added. “To be eligible, candidates should have completed their bachelor’s degree no more than three years ago and must be currently unemployed. They also cannot be recipients of other benefits provided by the government. “The other partners of the project will help design training courses and survey the demand of employers in related industries,” he added. “We expect the project to be launched by August.” Source: https://www.nationthailand.com/news/30391220 -- © Copyright The Nation Thailand 2020-07-13 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates
Popular Post stouricks
If the official minimum wage is Bht 300 a day ie Bht 9000 a month, why bother with three years at Uni when you can get a job at Maccy D, KFC, Tesco, etc. Most young Thais have advanced digital skills in that they can use FB, Whats App, Line and maybe Zoom at the same time as watching You Tube. During that time they will get an allowance of 10,000 Baht to pay the rent/food. Seems like a very good initiative and a win/win for all.
Matzzon
That´s really happy guy. Actually the picture looks a little bit stupid in connection to the information. Has he ever been thinking about that it´s much more than 50 000 new graduates he have to make happy. What about the 10% unemployment the virus have caused? I am sure that will take the grin of his face quite quickly. Time to dig in and get to work, dear Mr. Buddhipongse. ????
Grumpy John
Whilst I do think it maybe a good initiative I don't quite understand how the "Nobody left behind" folk only get 5000 baht a month yet these people will get 10000 baht a month. Holding a degree from a Thai university causes you to eat twice as much as the ordinary folk???

If you're in Mac D, KFC etc etc that's where you will remain twiddling your thumbs playing FB in between flipping burgers!
grumpy 4680
If the 50,00 grads had good IT skills, They could become very useful in the immigration service, building an internet system that works. Instead of being a lottery, trying to get on-line for reports or service.

If the young aren't trained, they'll never develop and the country as a whole loses too. Thailand needs to train it's younger generations if it is to have any chance of progressing.
