Thaivisa Golf 72
Currently I understand that only their Ocean and Mountain courses are being used, however the course conditions were excellent. Worth noting if you just want to play a few holes at the end of the day, after 4pm golfers pay THB400 Green fee and then THB40 per hole for the caddy. Good time to walk the course and normally you can get in 9-12 holes too.
Thaivisa Golf 72
THIS IS MY LOCAL COURSE SO HAVE PLAYED HERE MANY TIMES. The nearest and most accessible golf course to Pattaya and Jomtien, The Phoenix Gold Golf & Country Club Pattaya includes three nine-hole courses opened in 1993 called Mountain, Lake and Ocean. Originally designed by Dennis Griffiths the club has recently invested in upgrading all holes with the help of well know Thai designer Piraporn Nimatra, who also created Banyan in Hua Hin. The Mountain has a spectacular view of the famous Buddha Mountain, the Lakes has many water hazards and ponds along the fairways and the Ocean course offers dramatic views of the Gulf of Thailand. From the reports I have recently read, the course are maintained in tip top condition. My favorite holes are the dog leg par 4 6th hole on the Ocean courses with numerous bunkers and a slope down to a raised green. Birdie opportunities here. Also, Mountain’s par 3 4th which needs an accurate shot onto a thin green. They have recently redesigned their pro shop and restaurant so a trip here is well worth the drive. Check out their website or call them, but if you are pressed for time try booking their twilight package and tee off after 4pm…Green Fee was only THB400 and you just pay your caddie THB40 a hole. On a clear evening you can sometimes play up to 15 holes.

Emerald 1050 all in,Pattana 1350 all in Pattaya Country club 1150 all in Greenwood 1350 all in Eastern Star 1350 all in Pattavia 1350 all in and till the end of October Burapha 1250 all in....they are offers....why would anybody pay 700 baht more to play at Phoenix?? Lose the green fee for the "Twilight" rate and you Might get some foot traffic.imho

As you said they haven't exactly grasped the fact that other courses are offering far more competitive prices. If walking GF 900 plus 400 CF normal PSC price plus 700 for a cart so you are saving a whole 100 baht with that package....... I would however recommend the pro Andrew based at the driving range for anybody who wants/needs lessons.
keithsimmonds 1,503
A missed opportunity imo ...if i was "Thaivisa,s Resident Golf Expert" having already promoted offers at more than 8 other local Golf Courses, i would have pointed out to them (Phoenix) that this offer is just not good enough........have another go.
Thaivisa Golf 72
In all regions there is always a distinction between a premier league course and a division one or even division two course. Therefore you cannot compare say the price of a round at St Andrews with a round at Hasemere Golf Club. Same here.... Siam Country Club v Pleasant Valley. I would think that Phoenix Gold is a Division One Club verging on a premier league set up, therefore the price is reflected. However they do offer reduced rates in the afternoon when it is normally cooler.

At the time of the original article and comments Phoenix was 2000 baht and Burapha for over 60s (I appreciate not all but probably the majority of the audience on TV) 1250baht. By the way I think their current (November) PSC gf price is ok based on your analogy but it is definitely nothing special other than it would normally be higher at this time. Will be interesting to see if they increase it at all in December as some other courses seem to be doing........
