More than 4,200 people in Rayong and Bangkok, who were seen as at risk for Covid-19 infection following the cases of the Egyptian soldier and the Sudanese ambassador's daughter, have tested negative, the Department of Disease Control (DDC) said.

DDC director-general Dr Suwannachai Wattanayingcharoen made the statement at a brief conference at the department after the two recent cases involving foreigners caused panic among Thais in Rayong and Bangkok.

He said that on July 14, 1,336 people who had tested themselves at mobile labs in Rayong were all negative, while 267 tests in a mobile lab in Bangkok had also been negative.

On July 15, 1,252 Rayong people had been tested of whom 1,247 were negative while five samples were still being looked at.

On July 16, 1,244 Rayong people were tested in mobile labs while 97 got a virus test in Bangkok. The results are awaited.

He advised people to continue the hygiene measures of wearing a mask, washing hands, avoid sharing personal items with others and maintaining physical distancing to minimise the odds of getting infected.

They're talking about three days 14th, 15th and 16th.  negative test results available for 14th and 15th, while waiting for the test results for 16th.  It doesnt say anywhere that the test results for the 16th are negative.  it just says The Results Are Awaited.

How many diplomats etc visit Thailand.

Is it handful or many. Any idea?

Thousands. The US alone has over 500 American staff in the country (plus their family members), and dozens of other countries and international organizations have missions - albeit mostly smaller - in Thailand. In addition, there are thousands more diplomatic personnel who come to Thailand each year for meetings or consultations or temporary duty. Of course, the steady flow of entries and exits for leisure travel by resident diplomats has pretty much come to a halt, but arrivals and departures on official business still add up to far more than a handful.

Why rush to test them now ?  Keep them isolated  & wait until they get sick or

tested in 12/14 days then you will know !!!

If any of these show a positive test it gives direction for  tracing of any contacts they may have come in contact with. The earlier the better since the contacts will be less and the task of tracing is easier, more accurate and inclusive.

Good to point that out.

Proves again many forum farangs are talking through their cynical a-holes twisting facts just to trash Thailand.

However the opening paragraph states:

Note >4200 tested negative which, when you look at the detail, is untrue.

No surprise. Just because 1 or 2 tested positive by no stretch means the entire country is gonna be infected. Or even 1 or 2 others are gonna be. When is this Panic Culture madness gonna end???

Still testing today in Rayong outside Laemthong (Passione).

Around 50 people waiting to be tested this am.

No increased checking ie you can still walk in after temp check without signing in or waving your phone at the QR code.

First, about the software, can i access the source code to check there is no backdoor or any unrelated spy to user private life ? It should be safe to provide the open source code (and much more to provide also a control sum for this code to be sure no one will modify this code to spy).

Second, "thousand of tests"... how many thousand of which kind of tests (blood test ?) ? There is 69 millions of Thai people in Thailand, some thousand is down to 0,01 % of the population.

A good practice is to practice any random tests all over Thailand (some thousand of random screen tests for each area).

Instead of only be suspicious with foreigners only, can they also be serious to be suspicious for humanity without any nationality target in particular ?

In Melbourne they are conducting around 25,000 tests every day on a population of 5 million, today they found 415 that are positive due to an isolated outbreak mainly in the Northern and Western suburbs

Thailand manages to test 1500 for a population of nearly 70 million, what's the chances ???

Mobile labs. First time I saw that. Good development, but what type of tests are they using?

If it's a trailer truck or such, even with using sample pooling their capacity can't be much more than few hundred a day. Were they PCR or antibody?

As usual, very little information on a key piece of tech.

In the absence of any details about the alleged tests I am led to assume that the body temperature was measured, no-one had a temperature above 38 ⁰C and therefore all test results were declared to be negative.
