Popular Post webfact
Thai Tourism Minister touts September for return of international tourists Picture TNN Thai media TNN reported that Tourism Ministry efforts to encourage domestic tourism were only part of measures after the first throes of the coronavirus pandemic. With two thirds of tourism earnings down to foreign visitors, operators in the industry were keen to see foreigners let back into the country, they said. They reported the comments of Tourism and Sports minister Pipat Ratchakitprakarn after the green light was given at a meeting to allow medical tourists, Elite card holders and film crews back in Thailand from September. All people would arrive via air and details are still being ironed out with health authorities, said Pipat. The tourism ministry has come up with eight "Health Packages" for medical tourists that would see them restricted to Chiang Mai for 7 days/six nights, Phuket for 6 days/5 nights or 8 days/7 nights, Krabi 5/4, Samui 7/6 or 5/4 and Pattaya. Stays in Pattaya would be the longest at 11 days/10 nights or 6 days and 5 nights. Some 200 Elite card members will be coming to Thailand and will have to follow all health regulations. Film crews will need to have medical certificates and other documentation and quarantine for 14 days. TNN said that one third of tourism revenue in Thailand was down to Thais and two thirds was from foreigners. Popular Post dcsw53
The only thing they got right here is that medical tourists and film crews are the sort of people with money that the country needs. The black hole in the statement is where is the volume going to come from. China will still have 14 day isolation on people returning from Thailand, India closed due to rocketing cases and farangs down to a trickle because of user unfriendliness. TAT doing what they do best, dreaming without a clue of how to make things happen.
Popular Post KhunKenAP
So are the film crews coming to film the punters, having fun, of the horizonal variety with their "significant other"? I thought TAT was shut down. If not they should be with this crazy predication.

Popular Post spidermike007
Pipat has got to be one of the least talented and qualified of all ministers in this spectacularly sorry administration. He likely needs assistance tying his shoes in the morning. Where do they find these guys? Why do they always engage in such bottom of the barrel selections? Reminds me of an administration running the country I come from. 17

Well family money of course and like all other positions of Notariety here they buy their way in and the underlings pay tributes and up and up the tributes flow. Kinda like Civil Service Rockets. They don't work and you can't fire em...hehe 8 1

Popular Post Katipo
Open the gates, and they will come. Yeah, nah. It's not that simple. Firstly you've got all the daft rules at this end. Secondly, you can be fairly sure that the tourists country of origin will have it's own set of rules about who can leave, and if and how they can come back. If my income relied on foreign tourists, I would be looking a new revenue stream right now.
Popular Post yellowboat
Somebody is tired of playing video games and chatting with giks. Get ready for lunar new year. They over controlled and hassled tourists and now they want them back. Such children running the country.

Anna Rak
I am sure he meant to add, that people had to be a little patient because some embassies especially Hong Kong was overwhelmed by applications from the 50+ people how have shown an interest in the elite visa and it is taking some time to process these applications. ???? You can't make this up, ( or maybe you can)

And Emirates (which I use when travelling to Thailand) now requires (UAE Government directive) a negative Covid-19 test for all passengers - even those who will only be in transit.
