Second Stimulus Check nonfilers on SS/VA Benefits

Recommended Posts

Do those of us on SS/VA benefits still have to do the nonfiler for the second stimulus check?

We did it for the last stimulus payment but I don’t know if it was necessary.

I think this should actually be in General Topics because we all received the first stimulus package and the next one is apparently coming in Mid August. They say Faster than last time for those of us nonfilers on SS/VA Benefits.

i still have not received the first stimulus payment.

am on social security and also did nonfiler.

They say if you didn’t you’ll get it by debit card this time but I don’t know how that works. It sounds like we don’t have to resubmit the non filer again since I already did last time and we my wife and I both received it. Also sounds like we’ll receive it sooner this time in mid August.

There is no second check, yet.  If you didn't get the first one, you can get it when you file for 2020..as a refundable credit.

They are pushing for a cut in employment taxes, but it is looking more like direct payments, since that is much more responsive.

They’re about to sign it any day now we’re getting at least as much as last time we already know that. Supposed to be mid August. They say it’ll be faster for us this time.

I got all the info yesterday I thought others would know more but it looks like if you already did the non filer then no you don’t have to do it again but if you haven’t done it do the non filer.

CONFIRMED you do not have to file a non filer again if you already filed it to get your FIRST stimulus check. If you have NOT already done a non filer then you will have to do it in order to receive your second stimulus check.

But the second stimulus check is confirmed and will be paid in mid to late August. Currently Congress is still messing around with the bill but it is coming.

Fox News just confirmed as well the actual bill should be signed today then we should know exactly how much but it’s supposed to be at least what we got last time which was $1200 per person so again at least $2400 USD for a married couple.

Confirmed $1200 per person but after the bill is signed which should be today it could end up being more but definitely not less.

No bill is being signed today/27 July/Monday.

Heck, the Senate Republicans haven't even revealed their proposed bill, but they are suppose to do that today/27July.  Once the Senate Republicans lay a bill on table "for discussion/review" with the Senate Democrats and House then negotiations can begin.   Estimates have been that Congress (Senate and House) are still approx two weeks away from agreeing on/passing a bill which can then go to the president for signature.

This report from the NYT doesn't make it sound like an agreement between the White House, Republicans and Democrats is going to come quickly or easily:

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/26/us/politics/coronavirus-stimulus-bill-unemployment.html

Quote

Formal talks with Democrats could follow, but Senator Mitch McConnell, Republican of Kentucky and the majority leader, predicted on Friday that they could take “weeks.”
Even then, Senator Lindsey Graham, Republican of South Carolina, predicted on Sunday that months after voting unanimously on the first stimulus bill, much of his party would now be unwilling to support any relief bill.

...

The bill is likely to provide for another round of stimulus checks to American families, though it remains unclear who would be eligible to receive those payments. Larry Kudlow, the director of the National Economic Council, said on Sunday that the checks would be worth $1,200, though he did not detail who precisely would receive them.

The check will drop into your bank account again in mid August just like last time. 😃
