Vorayuth has no stake or involvement in TCP Group, Red Bull maker clarifies

TCP Group, the maker and distributor of global energy drink Red Bull, has clarified on its website that Vorayuth Yoovidhya, whose alleged involvement in a road accident that killed a policeman and subsequent absolution has been controversial, has never been involved with the group's business operations.

 

 

According to a release on its website, it said that in response to recent reports about Vorayuth's case, and misunderstanding about his relationship with TCP Group and the company’s products, "the company would like to state that we are fully aware of the situation and truly understand consumer sentiment regarding the incident".

 

"As such, TCP Group would like to clarify that Vorayuth has never assumed any role in the management and daily operations of TCP Group, was never a shareholder, nor has he held any executive position within TCP Group."

 

The statement said that the current confirmed shareholders and board members of TCP Group are: Pavana Langthara, Suthirat Yoovidhya, Jiravat Yoovidhya, Pranadda Yoovidhya, Supreeya Yoovidhya, Saravoot Yoovidhya and Nucharee Yoovidhya.

 

The statement reiterated that the company’s executives, shareholders and employees were not involved in any aspect of Vorayuth's case and it was his personal affair.

 

The name of the Red Bull scion, who had been absconding since the alleged crime, came into the spotlight again last Friday when the public learnt that the Office of the Attorney-General had decided to drop all charges against Vorayuth in a 2012 hit-and-run case.

 

Vorayuth allegedly crashed his Ferrari into a policeman riding on a motorbike in Bangkok’s Thonglor area.

Deputy National Police spokesman, Pol Colonel Kissana Phathanacharoen, insisted on Friday (July 24) that there were no double standards in the case of Vorayuth.

 

Vorayuth is the grandson of late Chaleo Yoovidhya, the founder of TCP Group, maker of Red Bull energy drink.

I just hope that Thais start boycotting this companies products, expats won't really move the needle on this. If the group's sales are down even 20% that will put a dent in their wallets. 

This sort of pressure worked before with that despicable girl who caused that fatal minivan crash, it can work again.

With no comment about the morality of the decision, it is obvious that they are completely satisfied with the outcome, and, with him being immediate family, they deserve to be tarred with the same brush.

Red bull sells approx 8 billion cans a year through 171 countries.

 

Seriously doubt 20% of Thai sales will put a dent in their bottom line.

That benefit of running off & not being hunted is directly linked to TCP Group. This twerp could have been easily captured by any bounty hunter

If the Thai people want to do something about this they need to get on Social Media & not just for Thailand posting

Post to major news sites around the world & tell them whats going on...yet again in Thailand...

 

Some will pick up on it & that will hurt TCP where it counts

It's pretty obvious from these "clarifications" that the company is very worried about a product boycott and slumping sales.

 

But it doesn't matter whether "Boss" is a company board member or holds any other executive position in the company.

 

The profits generated by the firm still filter down to him, allowing him to finance his lavish lifestyle. So indirectly he IS in fact invested in the company.

 

The press - local and foreign alike - haven't consistently described him for years as "heir to the Red Bull business empire" for nothing.

 

Also, is his appearance at Red Bull-sponsored F1 motor racing events around the world purely in a private capacity? I think not.

 

Furthermore, have the bribes and other "monetary donations" allegedly paid by the Yoovidhya family to "make the case go away" NOT been originally generated through Red Bull product sales?

 

So, for all intents and purposes, little Vorayuth - the wrongfully accused victim as which he is portrayed now - by sheer association is indeed deeply involved with the company.

I took a sip of that <deleted> when it first hit the shelves under the name of red bull and my tastebuds and gut told me it was pure poison to my system. Have not let another drop near me or my family. A nice clean cup of coffee from my espresso machine is more than sufficient to get my system going and as an added bonus I love the taste. How anyone could think that stuff tasted Like anything other than medicine. They should sell it in capsule form so you don’t have to taste it.????

Maybe we should get some of the members on here who take the time to tell people that they don’t care about this case and neither do Thais; to write to Red Bull and tell them not to worry. No one cares and your profits are safe.

This part of his comment I actually believe, which is a rare occurrence.

 

In matters such as this, Thailand has only ONE standard -- the rich and influential/connected get off entirely or mostly from criminal matters, except for those that are politically motivated. 

 

In that regard, their one standard has been very clear for a very long time.

 

BTW, in regards to the rest of the OP and the company's statement, what it DOESN'T address is what ownership share of the company he stands to inherit from his family or whatever other funds he receives based on their business income/profits.  It's not like he's out there earning a living on his own.

 

Who do you think has been funding his rich lifestyle on the run on this years since the policeman was killed?

You're not supposed to drink it neat. It's reportedly best taken with vodka but I do recall trying it in my beer a few times when some gormless fellow pisshead suggested it would help see me though to the all essential dawn. Didn't work.
