I tried this scheme when they started it to report motorbikes on the pavement and got nothing. They wanted video, pictures, plate number, location, time and date. Got zero out of it. I expect this to be the same.

I am curious - How many did you report and did you provide all the 'evidence' ?

Asking for 'video, pictures, plate number, location, time and date'  sounds reasonable to me .. I had a look at the Thai web site - looks like they have different categories - and then you fill in a form ...

If one developed an App with an API that could auto fill all the information - including the Video - Then sett up shop at a 'traffic light' - Sound like a good spot to catch offenders .....

So why are cars excluded? and when they say trucks does that include 1 ton pick-ups (with 3 ton rear springs) which are often referred to as trucks?  wow if i believed this for 1min I'd get more than my pension every month.

Maybe start by giving them a decent starting salary. It is difficult to survive for less than 15K a month. That's one of the main reasons they receive "tea money" in the first place.

When the whole "apple" is rotten and worm infested, you need to start over from seed....

Yet somehow they have no problem paying millions of THB for the best positions.

You're kind of making his point.

IMO  not a bad idea at all. Making it a financial reward system may be a  bit questionable.

There are many countries that accept and encourage public reporting of roadway incidences although none I know of offer a financial reward.

Dashcam evidence is great ! It will be interesting to see if it has a good effect.

The battery on my phone would not last long enough to report all the bad drivers while out on one journey.

i was thinking a lot of buying a phone holder with usb charge,

but it turns out my 5000 mAh phone carry on for over 3 days on a single charge

well obviously they will want technical evidence that holds up in court,

did you think a meme was going to cut it ? i.e their word against yours

with yours having an economic incentive behind it

It's a loan taken from their superiors in the police force.

They will have to pay it back with very high interest - just like the mafia.

It's all one big merry-go-round

If I get 50% of the fines for pictures of drivers playing with their phones while driving then I will make that my full time job.
