New witnesses key to charges being dropped against Red Bull ‘Boss’: Thai media

Thai media continued to explore every angle in the controversial case of Red Bull heir Vorayuth "Boss" Yoovidhya who drove his Ferrari into a Thong Lo policeman and killed him in September 2012. 

 

The case has been sensationally thrust back into the public spotlight after it was revealed that a decision was made by the public prosecutor's office to drop all charges.

 

One media has delved into the case and uncovered the witnesses who years after the event now say they know what happened. 

 

PPTV 36 reported that on the 4th of December 2019, seven years after the accident, two witnesses gave new information.

 

They said that sources at the public prosecutors' office indicated that these were an air force man with the rank of "air marshall" and a man called Mr J (whose name started with the Thai letter จ - jor/jaan).

 

They were in a pick-up that had been following Sen Sgt Wichian Klanprasert down the road. 

 

Just before the accident they said that the policeman on his motorcycle was in the far left lane by the footpath. They were in the second lane and the Ferrari was in the third lane by the central reservation. 

 

They were sure that the Ferrari was doing 60 - 80 kmph only.

 

The policeman suddenly went into the second lane causing them to swerve into the lane nearest the footpath. 

 

The policeman then went into the third lane in front of the Ferrari who could not possibly avoid a collision. 

 

They completely blamed the policeman for the accident that took his life. 

 

The media said that prosecutors gave weight to the views of these two witnesses. 

 

The article did not adequately explain why it took seven years for their testimony to come forward. 

 

They said that their testimony contradicted previous assessments by accident investigators that the Ferrari was doing 177 kmph.

Even if it were true, leaving the scene of an accident and not rendering assistance is a criminal offence.

 

If he had remained, it's very likely that he would have failed a soberiety test - a crime.

 

Driving in the far right lane at 60 kph while not overtaking- a crime.

 

Stating that he wasn't driving the vehicle, when he was - a crime.

 

Lying to the police - a crime.

 

Even if totally not his fault, driving with a person trapped beneath your car causing their death - definitely a f@@k&*g crime.

Witness statements aren’t reliable at the best of times. Now we’re expected to believe the statements after 7 years?

 

The police have all the evidence they need. If they’re still unsure they could ask a foreign expert in road collisions. The fact that two people suddenly pop up saying they remember how he was driving safely within the speed limit and the cooper just pulled out in front of him and there was nothing he could do to is obviously a red herring that they’ve been paid. 
 

7 years after one of Thailand’s most notorious injustices happens and then you decide to tell the police your vivid recollection of that night. 
 

Everyone involved in this case is just digging themselves into a deeper hole.

Details, details. Don't bother the authorities with details.

It's taken them long enough to dream this one up.

 

P.S. for ten million Baht, I can remember seeing it exactly as the air marshall described.

As I posted in another thread, the forensic investigation gave clear evidence of a rear-ended impact to the Policeman's motorcycle at 177km/h.

 

How evidence that two witnesses give some eight years later can be regarded as admissible and more accurate over and above forensics is ridiculous.

 

As in the Koh Tao debacle, silly, fat, corrupt, old Thai men in stupid uniforms with IQ's less than 90 expect everyone to believe what they say without question, regardless of how nonsensical and impossible.

It has gone Viral and now worldwide on the stage of infamy.  I just got a call from a buddy in Nevada who said he was going to make a bet at one of the casinos that the case would be re-started as the Thai prosecutors failed to have the time frozen for all the charges as he had fled the country.  When someone flees, the time until a charge falls off of the books is generally stopped while the warrant is active.  Only then is the time restarted after either the warrant period runs out or the individual is apprehended.  You generally can not outrun a case as they will refile the charge and reactivate the warrant, but then this is Thailand....

So, with all the known importance of the case in the media, an Air Marshall, a position I would say hold certain importance and knowledge of the world, takes years to remember it and come forwards ? What complete bull

Not only did it take 7 years for this 'Air Marshall' to connect the dots and come forward as a witness, he also remembers the incident like it was yesterday. Remembering vividly how it was all the police officer's fault and the Red Bull rat could do nothing to avoid hitting him.

 

Must be quite easy to become an Air Marshal in Thailand if you can pass the tests with this dangerously low-level of critical thinking skills. A position so easy to attain that I reckon even an animal, I don't know, something small and cute, could even be one.

It's the way things work here and will soon be forgotten, as Chalerm's son has been by most. His crime of shooting shooting a policeman in the head was a lot worse and the 22 witnesses never saw anything! He even got a job in the police AND government after it!!!
