I agree. 2 weeks ago I thought about staying at a five star hotel for the first time ever. I settled on the Sands at Khao Lak. Booked a pool suite. list price Agoda 15,000 baht/night. Reduced to 3,400 Baht. I booked 2 nights and paid 8,200 baht with Taxes. Be honest I was most disappointed in the so called lounge. Really designed as a second bedroom. Sofa hard as a bed and only a bean bag as a chair. But buffet breakfast was 5 star. On reflection I spent too much. Going to try in Ao Nang next week. I choose there usually the beach wing junior suite which comes around 2000 baht in low season which is a fair price. With the pool suite i also wasn't happy. Btw LIK if you want a real 5 star drive little bit more to the JW Marriott with it 10 rai pool and one level higher breakfast buffet and rooms. In 20 years i have never been to south west, did Samui once and that put me off a bit. The wife was keen to try the government scheme so we decided to try Ao Nang. Booked 3 nights at the Bluesotel and that came to 2000 baht with breakfast. Hope the street food is comparable to your prices, the wife will have a field day. Typical commission rate varies between 15-20% depending on the site and negotiated contract. LALes Posted August 3, 2020 Share Posted August 3, 2020 Drove around Phuket two weeks ago and many places were closed. Panwa Cape, Kata, Karon, Patong and up to Surin. Whatever you decide on, I would call the hotel and make sure they are open first. Wherever you decide on, now is the best time ever for a Phuket visit. The beaches are empty.
