webfact
Triumph factory sacks workers without notice By The Nation Workers at a Triumph factory in Nakhon Sawan came to work on Friday (July 31) to find a sign saying that all 800 of them had lost their jobs and that the factory will be closed for three months. The company had fired more than 2,000 workers earlier in the year due to the negative effects of Covid-19. The recently sacked workers marched to the Nakhon Sawan Provincial Labour Office for help, but officials asked them to file a complaint letter first. Popular Post richard_smith237
This is atrocious... Additionally, have they just been ‘fired’ or have they been laid of with redundancy payments? Or, has Triumph outsourced its labor via an agency so they are not accountable for redundancy payouts? Either way, this looks terrible on Triumph. I get that this is a difficult time for businesses, however, I am seeing some atrocious treatment of employees and workers. I bet the bosses aren't being laid off or losing pay Thanks for clearing that up. The thread-bare story doesn't say anything about what is produced there. I, like others, immediately thought of motorcycles. A search showed there are three Triumph Motorcycle factories in Thailand, with factory workers wearing very different work clothes. 4
Popular Post geisha
It’s happening everywhere, factories can’t stay open if there are no orders and cancellations. Unlike Europe and many other countries , Thailand does not supplement the loss of wages due to Covid. No help whatsoever. in EU most get 80% of their normal wages .

I am Dutch
Triumph announced months ago that they will leave Thailand and close the factory. So it should not been a surprise for the workers. If I can read it on social media/internet so can they. But it is still sad news! Edited July 31, 2020 by I am Dutch

boonrawdcnx
While I do not want to defend Triumph - it is the government and Thailand’s weak labor laws which allow such action.

I thought the labor laws were quiet strong and heavily favoured the employee. What makes you think they are weak ?

PETERTHEEATER
Another shoulder-boulder-holder producer shuts down. Can we look forward to a return of the mass bare breasts of yesteryear? If that doesn't draw the tourists nothing will.
