Triumph factory sacks workers without notice

Workers at a Triumph factory in Nakhon Sawan came to work on Friday (July 31) to find a sign saying that all 800 of them had lost their jobs and that the factory will be closed for three months.

The company had fired more than 2,000 workers earlier in the year due to the negative effects of Covid-19.

The recently sacked workers marched to the Nakhon Sawan Provincial Labour Office for help, but officials asked them to file a complaint letter first.

Triumph announced months ago that they will leave Thailand and close the factory. So it should not been a surprise for the workers. If I can read it on social media/internet so can they. But it is still sad news!

While I do not want to defend Triumph - it is the government and Thailand’s weak labor laws which allow such action.

I thought the labor laws were quiet strong and heavily favoured the employee.

What makes you think they are weak ?

Can't help but think that with a name like TRIumph making bras they are aimed for women with 3 breasts

Just another sign of the times, and a usual response from the labour office.
