Popular Post Saltire
I think this highlights one of the key differences between a Travel Policy and a Medical/Expat Policy. You are not travelling if you live here, but many will opt for travel policy as they tend to be cheaper.

It would seem that those with policies from Virgin Money could have no cover. It would certainly do no harm whatever to get something in writing (email) from your provider. I would say that it looks awfully like he had the wrong policy in the first place as he was living here.

Popular Post spoon1967
I don't wish harm to anyone who lives by the same belief, and I sincerely hope this guy makes a full recovery. However, as a few have already mentioned, the guy was a fool, no protective gear, no insurance (terms not followed). Now another Go Fund me for someone who obviously has the means to pay his own bills. Be the big man, nice house, fast bikes, cars, flash Harry around town, now his family are begging for other people's money, while the fees could be paid for by his own means. Some of these GFM pages are becoming an excuse for stupidity and carelessness. Speedy recovery to the man, and I hope he donates a chunk of cash to some Thai orphanages or other charities when (if) he's recovered. In addition, the maximum time our annual travel insurance policies cover single overseas stays is 90 days.” My policy has the same conditions. But mine has been extended. But perhaps you needed to contact them. Perhaps he did not. I did. I didn't just leave it and hope for the best. So each month, I get a new updated policy extension. 2long
Goodness me, quite a lot of nasty people on here ready to attack the guy for his lifestyle and (Some foolish) choices about protective gear. It's a UK newspaper, which is connected to The Daily Mail) is sensationalist tripe. I'm sure they got the best picture of him and inflated any details they could... further increased by some know-it-alls on TVF. Give the poor guy a break and wish him a speedy recovery... or at least don't be so negative and 'it serves him right'. 2
Popular Post Jim P
I said a few weeks ago a lot of these people now on amnesty will now not be insured and I was berated for it. Good luck to him he has a hard road ahead and if he was a boiler room scammer then karma has come knocking.

He ran a dodgy company, decorated with links to official government website to make it look as if he was endorsed by them. He possibly took travel insurance under false pretences. He chose to ride a bike without a helmet and now here he is begging for money after probably scamming it from others. Doesn't quite hit the sympathy button for me. None of the details I have came from the article posted. I checked it out for myself. How about you?
