Popular Post anthobkk
Even though the inssurance didn't want to pay because he didn't leave Thailand due to Covid, he was no wearing a helmet. 99% of insurance general condition states that you MUST wear a helmet and have a proper driving licence.. A friend of mine broke his arm on a motorcycle accident, he did have a licence but was not wearing a helmet. Insurance refused to pay him back. Also an investment banker asking for donations from the public makes no sense.

Popular Post herwin1234
Despite him "not wearing a helmet" i feel sorry for him. Lucky for him he is surrounded by people who love him and care for him, like his Thai wife and his brother who set up a gofundme page. I wish him well and a good recovery. For all the forum farang complaining about the helmet, the gofundme page, lack of insurance, his lifestyle.....its pretty pathetic. He is injured badly for Christ's sake.. Truly hope he recovers and makes it through as best as he can. Big bike, speeding, in Thailand, no protective gear and no helmet, that is almost akin to committing suicide, that's why there are so many negative comments and little sympathy for the man. Yes we can feel sorry, but he was asking for it. He isn't the first it has happened to and he certainly will not be the last. I had an even more serious motorbike accident than him, 7 months in hospital, still putting up with serious pain everyday, will do till i die. Did i go cap in hand to others to help pay my bills...... Go fund me.... I think the main point is he had a travel insurance which was only valid for max. 90 day per journey. They started GoFundme because many did before and they can. I don't think it's right but you see, they already got few thousands...it works. I actually need a new Ferrari, maybe I could also start a campaign. I definitely will not contribute for whatever reason but wish a speedy recovery. Edited August 1, 2020 by Mak25

Popular Post BTB1977
He could have gotten travel insurance. Or an insurance policy here in thailand. But I'm sure because of his reckless lifestyle he didn't care to do things the right way. Now other people are asked to be responsible for his bills. I think if the family loves him they should sell everything he has and their own assets before asking for money from strangers. 2
Popular Post Tchooptip
Here on my scooter, I have ONLY a helmet but one of super good quality and complete, to have the face protected too, because even at slow speed if the face is hitting on the road and rubbed for only a meter or two help for my pretty nose! And before, in Europe if on on faster motorcycles, boots, never without gloves and more recently jackets with rigid plastic-like protection for the arms and the back. It is not magic but it often reduces the damage.

Popular Post Kerryd
As soon as you see a news article that already has a GoFundMe link set up, be suspicious. It means they've had time to make up the story, set up the GoFundMe then shop the story around to a vendor that "buffs" such stories before selling them to various media outlets (which then generates more publicity for the GoFundMe). And I'm sure there are a number of TV members in Hua Hin, fellow Brits even, that could stop in the local hospital and drop off some flowers/food/whatever. Can't be that many hospitals there with injured Brits in them. Should be real easy to track down. Every time I hear one of these stories it seems it's always on the other side of the country from me. Too far for me to go and check on it. You know, to make sure the person is being properly cared for and such (and is actually there to begin with).
