will they open again as before maybe as long as cvd19 is controlled ,   will they stop these ridiculous rules ,    i doubt anyone who does not accept vaccine will be allowed entry such as myself,      i do not think it would be safe of what ive read and watched about the gates foundation  , therefore i am very reluctant to accept vacinne . 

 

thailand is suffering badly because no farang there , tourists in general,          im not going down the road of the chinese spend more money that  farang ive heard the debate before that thailand doesnt need us nor want us back but ive heard otherwise froom many many thai people , ive just got back to UK in last few days .

I beg to differ.  No tourists, no Chinese with their endless coach trips blocking all the roads. Empty malls, beaches clear mid week, it's a great place to be right now. So OP,  absolutely skip the holiday.

I feel so sorry for all those who needed tourists for their livlyhood ,but to be honest ,its good here for us married guys who just live an ordinary life , so much less hastle without the Chinese tour buses all over the place.

Prayut / govt is claiming 95% Thais don't want us dirty farangs back. Now this is not a scientifically verified Gallup poll & I only know other farangs & those in the hospitality industry but if 100% of the people I know are screaming for the return of tourism someone's got their sums wrong.

Is there some reasoning to this or are the govt so paranoid about their tiny covid rates they are prepared to screw the tourist industry?

Sadly the tourist resorts will be ghost town in a few more months of boarded up shops, bars, hotels and restaurants. It's not economically viable to keep going with closed borders for most of them.

Dont take it personally , Thais didnt want to open up the Country and risk a second wave of the virus.

Thais were not saying they dont like felangs , they just didn't want their Country exposed to the virus again

Yes I totally agree but theres a massive face issue here and Thailands Junta dont want to wreck a pretty amazing Covid record (whether you believe it or not is another issue)

Notwithstanding Thailands Foreign currency reserves has grown another staggering $22 Billion since this crisis began. Yes I know the Thai people are desperate for the tourists but the finances says the Junta really aint bothered. Report from BOT on Thaivisa today saying the economy has bottomed out as well

Where do you live? I have never seen this in Chiang Mai, where 85% of the Chinese tourists are individual travelers, coming with friends or family, and spend a lot of money.

My own opinion is that foreign tourism to Thailand will NEVER return to the heady numbers of yesteryear, (which is probably a good thing).

 

How long to return to modest numbers of tourists?  IMHO, perhaps 5 years or so, because the reactions of various governments and international organisations has - in many cases, bordered on incompetence, clutching at straws, draconian, illogical, kneejerk etc.  There are few governments who seem to have taken action with a level and informed head.  I should also say that I regard many individuals as selfish, arrogant and ignorant as well.  The human race has showed itself wanting in these current times.

 

From my 'snug nest' in north Laos, I'd be happy if I can get back for a shopping trip to Bangkok by 2025...

why you keep interested in Thailand ?  I think inside you miss it and you don't wan't to say. For me if I left somewhere I make a new home in the new place, I don't wan't to keep going back to discuss  ??

Most posters here have left thailand some time ago already and why they can’t still active participate in these forums ?  The site be dead if only members are allowed who are actually living in Thailand at the moment.
