Are Thailand's coronavirus numbers too good to be true?

Thailand reports that it has crushed Covid-19 despite being a well-known hub for tourists, but is it too good to be true? CNN's Anna Coren reports.

Considering they are claiming 60+ days virus free, with the exception of those returning, and put in quarantine, one must be suspicious as to why they are so insistent on mask wearing, social distancing, state of emergency etc. But can anyone trust anything that comes out of a current government member's mouth ?

Did it ever occur to you the face mask/social distancing thing is the reason why the numbers are low.

It's doing no harm by keeping up these practices.

Said before, they aren't testing on mass so it's unsure to know how many cases there are. 

 

However, if there was a huge amount of the population suffering or dying, we would know. So i do believe they've escaped the worst of it.

It is a 100% fact that their case detection is too good to be true, along with their transparency about reporting antibody testing results.

Go to Pattaya and see how almost no one wears masks and not to mention social distancing, what is the real truth? no one really knows, but as it is, its suits me fine...

What would be the advantage to ANY government by hiding figures about this virus?

Can a government alone handle the situation without the cooperation of its citizens?

Is it possible for any government to hide mass deaths, if it is happening?

Can infected patients be hidden in public hospitals?

(Not trying to prove anything, just asking!)

A woman in Florida whose job it was to post statistics was fired because she was told to lower the numbers and refused to do so. The CDC is now circumvented from hospitals reporting numbers to them; these numbers now go into a magical black hole in the White House.

The US is clearly hiding the numbers because the guy running for re-election says the numbers make him look bad. "So I told my people 'Slow down the testing!'"

If you do not test the public then you never know the true numbers, and with the majority having just symptoms of a seasonal cold or such, not many go to the doctors or clinics.  Yesterday on the MRT on my way home, it was packed at 7 pm and it was a cough fest with people trying to push away from where the coughing was coming from each time it started.  Felt like my GF and I would get crushed into a corner.  The Thai people are definitely afraid of Covid.

I genuinely hope it’s true. But the government has such a long and unblemished track record of:

 

-ignoring/hiding/covering up information they don't like...

-persecution of anyone who releases information they don't like...

-persecution of those who disagree with any government agenda...

-refusal to accept/admit to unpleasant truths...

-falsification of statistical data to satisfy a government-approved narrative…and…

-compulsively lying about almost anything and everything…

 

....that it's very difficult to believe anything they say at face value.

Yes, because the people obfuscating the figures are politicians, and public opinion is their bread and butter.

Yes, but I’m not saying that’s happening. Considering most people here don’t even get an autopsy or even have their death investigated in any way certainly makes it easier to do though, if they were compelled to do so. 
 

Don’t know if they are infected if they aren’t tested, do we. 
 

Im not saying Thailand is hiding mass deaths nor that they aren’t doing well, I’m saying that there’s got to be more to the story and it’s a fact that they have had more cases than were officially detected.

Verified proof of your the information in your comment would be nice instead of it being a heard of comment and such.

You're right. There is no real trust in those who run this show. I trust my own personal observations and social media - if there were deaths or cases here, they'd be shared on the jungle telegraph faster than the speed of light.

I would say Thailand did great and they did. However like in all countries they under reported. The US and UK and much of Europe also under reported.

 

The BBC did a great article by comparing average death rates over a period with the death rates during covid. This is about the gold standard of testing as you can see how many more people died then normal. Then you can attribute that to COVID with reasonable safety. Its not perfect but the best of all methods. Most deniers wont like it as it shows higher numbers everywhere.

 

Thailand had also more deaths so its not as succesffull as it claims but far better then most other countries.

Strange how the masks and social distancing aren't working in some countries, yet are working in others.  Argentina has been on a super strict lockdown and masks required, yet their cases are high.  

 

Masks and social distancing isn't the reason why the numbers here are low.  Call it luck, a fluke, no testing, genetics, same as Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar, Vietnam ( even though they just had some illegals enter their country and start the spread, according to accounts I've read)
