The option of reopening schools across the country will be discussed at the next Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) meeting on Friday (August 7) at which the Education Ministry’s opinion will also be heard, secretary general to the National Security Council General Somsak Roongsita said on Tuesday (August 4).

Education Minister Nataphol Teepsuwan had said on Monday that CCSA will be urged to consider reopening all schools now that the outbreak is less severe.

He also said that students should return to school, especially since they have been missing out on a lot of things that could not be covered via online classes.

If given the green light by CCSA, schools will be required to follow full preventive measures in line with the Public Health Ministry’s regulations.

Might as well. The kids have been mingling with each other outside schools for a couple of months now. Not a mask in sight.

That's a very true observation.

My son has just started technical college, where they have to wear masks all the time and sit apart.

Last week during their lunch break, six of them descended on our house. All sat outside, talking and messing around right in each other's faces.

Then back to college to put their masks on again and sit separated ...

This madness must stop. Two months without locally transmitted new infections and people still act like we live in a nuclear danger zone.

Even in Europe they dont let kids under 12 wear masks as risks are minimal. Give those kids their normal school time back before they are completely scarred for life.

After that we can all pretend to worry about black lives and global warming again.

There have been no local infections for over 70 days. Thailand has been praised for its quick reaction to the onset of covid19 and will be on course to be cursed for the slow release of restrictions.

I agree that restrictions on tourism is probably right at the moment but what of married and unmarried parents of Thai children who can't return to Thailand.

I live in a condo block where children banned from school every other day and having to wear masks at school play with each other mask less in the condo block. Most come from a school less than 100 metres from the entrance to the condo block. This overprotective nonsense at school should stop.
