The Labour Ministry is coordinating with relevant agencies to help 46 Thai cruise ship employees return home from Singapore.

Ministry permanent secretary Sutthi Sukoson said officials had been contacted by the 46 Thais, who were recruited by various companies, to work on a cruise ship.

However, due to a tourism downfall followed by the impact of Covid-19 on cruise tours, the ship had ceased operation for almost six months.

Now, the Labour Ministry is looking for ways to provide urgent assistance by coordinating with relevant departments. The Department of Employment meanwhile found only 12 of the 46 were members of a fund to assist job seekers who had worked overseas.
