Popular Post Destiny1990
Why pushing al these long term staying foreigners out in recent years by complicated visa procedures and insurances, bridge players dart players etc and now there is the expat card ?? I think it came 5 years too late !

CaptainFly
How about letting the Expats who have retirement and marriage visas back in the country without the impossible requirements so we can enjoy Thailand like we used to? All Expats who are living in Thailand deserve to be treated the same which includes those who are stuck out of the Kingdom.
Popular Post brommers
Having lived here for many moons I have grown inured to Thai Smiling at Farang when they want my money. I will not forget that Minister Anutin called me a Dirty Farang and said we should be thrown out of the country. Well I am still here but have slashed my expenditure on Thai goods and services. And there is no way that some "be nice to Dirty Farang card" will get me to visit one attraction or spend one more satang. My Dirty Farang overseas family will not be reinstating their lengthy annual vacations here because we will meet in places like Maldives where the government sees and respects the value of my money. Two Faced Thailand has rubbed my face in the dirt one too many times. 13

Popular Post TEFLKrabi
Maybe it’s time to say “Thank you” for offering us the discounts too. There’s a lot of expats who have time on their hands and would happily visit more of the country. I know those who work will complain, but a serious discount for non-weekend hotel stays would please those who can travel at any time.
Popular Post bluesea
Signs of a desperate Government with no Money, Now they want the Expats to be there best friend,IO think they will have to go back to the Drawing Board and think again, Equality will never happen in Thailand you will always have 2 tier Pricing. TOT do something absolutely Amazing to bring in those Dollars like offer all expats Permanent Residence now that Equality.

Popular Post Fairynuff
I’m so looking forward to getting these super special discounts. Now we might only be asked for 5 times the true price instead of 10 times 2

Thais already have ID cards so they can easily take advantage of the current discounts the government is subsidizing. Although the idea of subsidizing discounts for expats is a great in theory, it will only be worthwhile if the process of getting a "special" expat card is simple and quick. If you have a Thai driving licence, you have an ID card as your passport number is on the licence........ simples ????

1duckyboy
Nowhere did he say tiered pricing would be abolished. With the card expats can can pay what Thais pay at participating hotels and attractions. No card, no regular price.

Would cut down on the tons of identical paperwork we provide them each year for a start!!!???????????????? That would reduce their ability to arbitrarily request additional information that is not required in the official guidelines. Or decide that we used the wrong color pen, photo not clear, wrong color photo background, signature not clear, wrong paper texture, don't like the shirt we're wearing, wai wasn't high enough etc. Which in turn, would remove their opportunity to charge a "fee" to overlook these fake requirements. No, I think the "officer's decision is final" gives them the power to demand whatever they want, the power they so desperately crave over westerners. I certainly won't be lured by this temporary olive branch. My wages mostly go back to the UK now to purchase property that I can actually own. 2
vandeventer
This would be very nice, but first you must give us a 6 month amnesty from the the 26 of sept. and also keep the Chinese tourist out as the second wave of the virus may be hitting them now. You really need to drop this visa <deleted> as most of us are retired and more responsive to the virus. So stop trying to push us out of the country as no one knows where to go.None of us have the the virus so what is the problem? apetryxx
This idea could be implemented immediately, I mean today, for those of us with pink I. D. Cards. But of course, that’s too easy. As for others, there are, quite simply, no tourists in the kingdom these days so why not hand out the passes at some convenient venues if one just shows a passport.

The discount would allow a better hotel at about the same price. They have indicated it would be similar to the Thai scheme and under that we booked 3 nights at the Bluesotel in Ao Nang for 2000 baht. If anyone thinks that less than 700 baht/night with breakfast is far too much then they would probably stay at home anyway. As for simplicity, booking under the Thai scheme is not easy so why would it be any different.

Yip, doubt very much that the program offer to falang will be anywhere near as good as it is for the Thais under the TRAVEL TOGETHER promotion. And why issue a card? Can't we register online and get a code, like Thais did/do? Add a function to include a copy of passport, easy. I know, 'easy' does not work here... Wake Up
Screw Thailand. No one cares about helping Thailand anymore. Hope they close their borders forever and enjoy eating rice and bugs.
