If Tourist does 72 H covid test before flying and get tested at arrival and does 14 days quarantine,  why should there be categories ? After going trou all this Thailand should assume the Tourist who did go trou it should be Covid free right ? So' please explain categories?

That is a very good point indeed. Cheers!

As much as I would like to return to Australia to see my kids and grand kids the 14 day quarantine on return, even if in a luxury hotel paid for by the Thais, could be a real turkey shoot.  Sharing the room with Cindy and Vicky would be bearable I guess but my luck may see me sharing with Abdul and Ahmed!

You have to pay for it yourself i think

There are categories because it is based on the assumption that many will want to come if allowed. You always base on the worst case scenario. Categories limit the worse case. When they see they can handle all the testing, they can expand the categories.

I know some say many will not jump through the hoops to enter. However, open the gates and I, for one, will jump through any hoops you want.. even bark like a dog! LOL. The rest of you can wait until next year or never!

He is most likely saying this just because he's been ordered to do this when he does not want too.

He may have also been ordered not to say anything foolish. ????

That naturally begs the question of how he would know he's saying something foolish; fool never knows this, he just talks.

The initiative to allow foreign nationals to enter the country will be focused first on trade persons conducting business negotiations, as well as technicians and installers of specific machinery, whose visits are generally short and less than the 14-day quarantine period.

So, are they saying that people on a short visit aren't likely to spread COVID-19? Really?

No, they're saying that having an entire factory shut down, with thousands unemployed or sitting idly by and looking at the broken machine is pretty devastating when the service guy who's qualified to fix that one machine can't get into the country for the half a day it will take him.

A lot of nebulas comments. Thailand cannot keep her borders closed indefinitely and will have to follow other neighbouring countries. Until some arrangements can be made for tourists to enter Thailand safely none will come neither will International Airlines schedule regular flights to Thailand until they can hope to get sufficient passengers to make them economically viable. Covid will probably  be present for many years to come as there is no certainty that any effective vaccine will ever be developed so will have to live with it as safely as we can,  Meanwhile there is a strong possibility of economic disaster which will far out way what has been experienced so far. Health of Thai Citizens must be paramount as whilst no tourists more and more will become unemployed.

It is sad to see Thailand become an old hooker who has lost her looks. Nobody is buying it any more..

Actually, I still can't stop hittin' it.

If the border with Lao is not open in September, do you think they will extend my amnesty?
