Popular Post webfact
Chula virologist calls for strict scrutiny of borders to prevent virus from spreading By THE NATION Covid-19 would be hard to contain, as a second wave of the outbreak is happening even in countries that seemed to have it under control, Chulalongkorn University expert virologist Dr Yong Poovorawan said on his personal social media. n his post on Friday (August 7), the doctor mentioned Vietnam. He said that the country had acknowledged the second wave when patients with severe symptoms visited hospitals. This showed that there would be other patients in public spaces, with and without symptoms, he said, adding that some patients have spread the virus in the hospitals. It would be hard for Vietnam to deal with this situation, he added. The doctor said that it was only in Thailand and New Zealand that the second wave had not happened in public space. He mentioned that around 0.5 per cent was the average of infected persons returning from overseas. The doctor said the government should strictly monitor borders and natural channels, in order to prevent the virus spreading from illegal migrants or returnees. Popular Post DrTuner
The borders are porous with Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia, probably with Malaysia as well. It'll likely leak in either from Malaysia or Myanmar, once it proceeds back from Europe through India or Singapore. Lack of air traffic makes it slower now, but not stopped. Better use the time to prepare the test & tracing. No sign of that. 2 1

I took the first test for my CoE application, second one 72h prior to departure, third on day 4th in ASQ, the last test on day 13 in ASQ. A hotell staff escort you to the roof top terrace. Not allowed to move around alone. Note that ASQs all have different rules in terms of testing, spending time outside rooms etc. The wristbands are ridiculous and serves no purpose whatsoever. But, they are serious about it, so one better just follow their rules.

My friend and his wife work at the same place ,a large G/House at the moment not operating due to hotel g/House situation. Both been temporally laid off. with no salary . I was under the impression that they would be entitled to the B5000 government pay out ,but no they say they have been told they are not entitled to it but it was the government undertakings that that hotels /GHouses not to book tourists in . Well if tourists have been stopped coming into Thailand how how could they anyway, a government decision. Years ago l purchased gold for them to use as an emergency way of obtaining money which has paid off. Today I've been to the bank to drew money out for their expenses 40000 Baht or for me £1000 and perhaps one more year if the virus didn't subside or have a new virus outbreak. I suggest to people wear a mask and keep isolated as much as possible. I'm sure it's better to be isolation here on earth then six foot under. 2

Pretty sure it has already spread all around Vietnam. The difference being that the average Vietnamese is thin and healthy, which might mean their immune system is fending off the virus. Coffee shops and restaurants are busy. Out of almost 100mil people there have been 10 deaths. Thailand's population is slightly smaller and has more than five times the death rate. Your immune system is going to save you, not some doctor who thinks he knows it all. 1

Don't rule it out. An epidemic of a certain unknown common cold strain could provide a large amount of immunity to the population. Nobody seems to know which one is associated with the cross immunity but there's no doubt that it exists.
Popular Post Bim Smith
Vietnam didn't even have a first wave until recently one Russian died who was so ill you had no way of knowing he even died of Covid. Stop this paranoia now and get your country open. Thailand had three months of running normally with barely a sniffle and was the first country outside China to have a case back in January. This is insane
BLACKJACK2
The second ripple here in Europe was inevitable as countries opened up, yet even though the cases are going up the amount of deaths in every country is now in single figures. In years to come when all the data is in I think the mortality rate for Covid will be very low.

jerolamo
Very sad to read articles who seems to suggest than virus can be spread only from outside to inside. Looks like: 1/ the virus is not in Thailand, and 2/ Thai people can not contaminate other people. This kind of allegation who deny that virus is not only from foreigner, show a kind of "xenophobia thinking" linked with "panic attitude". Panic attitude and xenophobia reflections exist because of very low level of knowledge, long times ago, all over the world, it was something normal to react and thinking like this, but now, we are in 2020, some people can go in the space, some other were gone to walk on the moon... it is difficult to this "dirty farang" (but courageous) to read this kind of xenophobic articles. But what is more stupid there is to speak, but not test. In my city there, we do 24 000 test by week (300 000 by week in the country, same size than Thailand, same number of people). And sure, if we make the same number of test than Thailand, we would have not to much cases... maybe 70 years ago the people there would also think same than in Thailand about foreigner. Epidemic situation reveal the real state of level of countries all around the world. Reveal ability, courage and implication to fight something new, the kind of practice to resolve or fight against a problem. We know human cultural storries show that resiliant and adaptability are not the same concepts. Thai population seems to have a courageous cultural education, i do not understand why they stay locked and are afraid like this. Looks like there is a big difference between what Thai culture realy is and decision from the very top level at the final time. Sure, humanity now need to be courageous, need to provide proof of courageous acts. The way to stay in a hole and look outside with a periscope is not a courageous act, it is a kind of attitude from a little child who is afraid and waiting for mum to come and give food. To be courageous doesn't mean to do nothing or to be stupid and ignorant. we can not deny facts or do nothing to not look at the real number of infected people. Humanity need to wake up and go ahead now (but from the first day to the best), need to be courageous, and need to go to work, need to WIN money and his life. Do not hope to get some money back from something you choose to not be implicate with: no risk = no money. Do not hope anything if you stay afraid inside your little hole and scare about other or if you are this kind of xenophobic people. Need to go ahead and protect other by wearing the mask, make this respected absolutely, clean hands and everything around more than ever. The people who are not courageous will be soon very poor and also contaminated (but without nothing to fight the virus other than ask an help to strong and courageous populations... like many times) and now this situation is not an exception limited to one country. Think about your foreigners can also become your best friend, but probably not if you hate them because you are afraid about this world, because you feel yourself so different but a bit ignorant when you look at the world outside. Your foreigner have the same situation to care about and people who want to come back to see there family there are very courageous to be able to go in a country where not to much tests has been made and a kind of xenophobia exist at top level of the system. But we are courageous, we go to make money far from home, sometimes all over the world in dangerous places, many times and work strong, lot of risks, sometimes for many of us expats people it is the life we have, we fight to win our life and share what we get back courageously with our family. And for people married with Thai it is kind of be married with Thailand. Don't do like it doesn't exist, foreigner who choose Thailand love to be honorable. It is very difficult for us when we are in front of kind of coward decisions who seems to be from panic or from afraid by anything they don't really know about, much more when they are on the chair to make decision and refuse any risk but hope for something back. Now your courageous population and our family just want to build our life and feel locked by your privileged leadership.

Keep the borders closed, it's the only way. We've seen from returning Thais from around the globe that infected persons will come in if not quarantined. As for tourists coming in end of this year forget it. Thailand is almost back to normal with an ailing economy, the last thing they need is another lockdown . I know it's unfortunate for the tourism sectors and a percentage of workers are struggling, but a percentage is better than 100%.

If you recall back in February it was supposed to spread like wildfire in a field of dry grass doused in petrol. It was all over the world in a month. Now 6 months later we're being told it still has the potential to spread in places its already been spread. Why didn't it do so in any of the 5 previous months? Was it having a holiday? The only logic is it been and gone long ago, and 99% of people don't realize they had it monthes ago, had little or no symptom and are now immune. Alternatively its all just a myth to scare people while bankers contract the money supply to bankrupt small businesses so that big businesses can buy up the market ( same as every other forced recession in history ) Edited August 7, 2020 by djuiiy
