They keep answering to the higher ups, like the underlings had anything to do with the fix.

They are explaining themselves to the actual people that need to be explaining themselves.

Let's clarify that for better understanding:

Officer Thanasit had ORIGINALLY stated that the car drove at a speed of 177 kph, and it was recorded like that in the original file.

But in 2016, he suddenly REVERSED his findings, stating that the car's speed was "only" 79.23 kph.

And now, yet another 4 years down the road and with all that public anger welling up, he GOES BACK to his original calculation of 177 kph, blaming his 2016 mistake on "confusion with the formula".

Why do I have the impression that his "confusion" might have been caused by some bundles of 1,000 baht bills that were waved in front of his face back in 2016?

Apart from that, even 79.23 kph already was considerably ABOVE the speed limit in Bangkok.

Maybe he has realised the <deleted> is about to hit the fan and doesn't want no part in it and went back to his original calculations

Not bad going for one spoilt brat, he damages the reputation of his family and their business, he demonstrates yet again the corruption of the police and justice system, and globally he disgraces Thailand and its unequal society.

He just imitating the biggest spoilt brat of all.

I think he may have been confused as the brown envelope contained 79.23k baht
