Thailand's/Isaan's suicide rate skyrocketing?

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

A police officer took his life on Saturday when he had visitors at the Sisaket hospital.

He told his visitors that the only wanted "to get some air" on the balcony and jumped down.

He was there because of psychological problems and had tried to take his life twice.

RIP, poor bloke. 52 is too young to go.

Just one suicide?

Has there been recent news/data of a suicide spike in that area?

Sounds like something you'd see in the Australian news..

1 or 2 cases constitutes a

"massive outbreak" or 2nd wave.

That's a bit far fetched if that's it. The image is a bit naff too.

This site has links to Samaritans just some Info which may be helpful.

Apart me. The suicide rate in this city started to increase shortly after the General took power.

A lot of younger people commit suicide, but you seldom hear that in the news.

And it increased again when countless people have lost their income.

I know a Psychiatrist, a dentist and a few Thai teachers who all back this up.

Hello Teacher Claire, if you are feeling suicidal, pls call the Samaritans. What is it that is troubling you, the 90 days report or Ed Visa or...?

Tad harsh singling the Aussies out, is it not? This has been standard MSM practise right from the start of the pandemic in a number of countries that enjoy freedom of expression as a means of driving the fear agenda. Not that a fun dig at them is a crime. I am sure your post was solely intended as a bit of Aussie baiting and done in jest. Let's see if they bite.

that still isnt enough data to back up your hypothesis,

its anecdotal at its heart

Waiting for the writer of this piece to use the words 'plummeting' when it drops off after the skyrocketing

Still a good question.

It's not as if I'd expect the Junta to come clean about their failure to bring happiness to the people.

I don't think I'd choose a hospital to jump off if I were that way inclined. Too much risk they might put me back together again. Still logic and suicides don't go together. RIP fellah - hope you found your release.

Mai Phen Rai.

This hospital is ran by youngish "doctors" who are "learning by doing".

Oops, was the wrong medication, sister! Let's go to the foreigner in room 13 now.

If the freestyle jump doesn't kill you, they will.
