on their way home from a merit-making trip to a temple

Well, that didn't help.

How could it? Same as people dying in a church or a mosque as a result of an act of god.

It also goes to show, merit making is a waste of time. If the big boy/girl decides he/she/they want you, he/she/they will get you.

How do you know?  They haven't even been reincarnated yet.  There's a lot of formalities to follow.

RIP to the youngsters.  Looking at that Rube Goldberg towing kit, that could have been any one of us on a scooter.  Helmet or no...

Still another data point.  Had they been in a 4 wheeled vehicle we wouldn't be reading about it, and they'd just be arguing over who pays for the damage.

...The iron tow cable is very long, and very hard to see.

It blends easy away in the background, the road has the same color.

Long and 'invisible' , a receipt for a accident to happen.  ...

Yes, I had to watch the grainy video a couple times before I could see it.  Perfect trip wire for motorcycles.

They were trying to make the green light hey? Seems like a lot of Thais have this disease" Make the green light" and if they don't they just drive straight through a red light. Sometimes they drive right through a red light  right in front of the cops and nothing is done

but more importantly, who ran the red light - the cyclists or driver?

There is no red or green, no traffic lights but orange flashing, on that intersection..

Sakon Wutthichai, 48, the truck driver, reportedly told officials that he was driving the truck from Ang Thong to Ayutthaya, while towing the bus that was carrying employees of a factory, as it had run out of gas.

What? Three people had to die because of the stupidity of some people. Out of gas and towing a bus?

Why didn't they buy Diesel and get the <deleted>_y bus running?

And the silliest point is that unless the hospital was the 'factory' they had passed a gas station coming that road and there are 3 more on the main road nearby, they should have had turned left and not ...

It only makes sense if the bus was on natural gas, but even then, doesn't those also use benzine as spare fuel?

If there was a red handkerchief on the towing rope.. maybe..

Poor souls.

Is that gas as in gas, or gas as in petrol? I thought busses ran on diesel.

if it was a gas powered bus, bringing gas to it and refilling it is a bit difficult. If it was petrol or diesel, the refilling is easy. If diesel, use some of the diesel from the towing veicle.

Towing with cable as long as that shown in the picture is stupidity.

No engine, no power steering, no brakes on the bus... How does that work? No thought, either by the bus driver or the truck driver.

It also goes to show, merit making is a waste of time. If the big boy/girl decides he/she/they want you, he/she/they will get you.

Just filling with diesel ,like petrol, would not work the system would want bleeding ,opening some screws on the injector pump on the engine,  to let the air out of the system not easy .

I did wonder about power steering and  brakes to.

Why did it run out of diesel ,was the fuel gauge working .
