The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has set up a panel to investigate Nate Naksuk over his decision to drop the hit-and-run case against Vorayuth “Boss” Yoovidhya in June.

Nate tendered his resignation as deputy attorney general yesterday, as public pressure mounted after he dropped the final charge against Vorayuth, scion of Thailand’s second richest family, over the 2012 hit-and-run killing of a policeman. Nate reportedly defended his decision to drop the case but said he was quitting to protect the OAG’s reputation.

However, he will avoid the disciplinary examination if the OAG accepts his resignation and makes it effective before the current due date of August 18.

Nate, 65, is due to retire on September 30, but can apply to extend his term for another five years until the age of 70.

The OAG yesterday (August 11) also resolved to appoint a panel to review the results of a fresh investigation of the case. Police have until August 20 to send the evidence to prosecutors.

‘Probing’ is perhaps the right word.

The legal system is being ‘probed’ good ’n proper by this family abusing and insulting the intelligence of the populace.

A wholly disgraceful situation which must be highly embarrassing for any Thai who cares for its country’s image.

This case is not an exception.

is the norm for Thailand.

If Boss gets a criminal record, would it in any way be an obstacle to him holding directorships or office of any kind here in Thailand? Maybe that's why they are putting up such a fight to protect him.

Who would be daft enough to give him a job? Any job? (as if he needed one.....)

that fits he is resigning before he can be disciplined he can't have his pension taken away if he is retired when they discover his complicity. However if he is sacked part of the disciplinary action could be to rescind all pension rights and cancel any leaving bonus.

A large column on CNN last night about the case......highly embarrassing for Thailand, but of course, international news means little to Thais...this is, after all, the centre of the universe!

so they would to believe and think everyone else does as well...

:cheesy::cheesy: Of course :cheesy::cheesy: especially when you consider a major player in this government has been legally charged, convicted and jailed for smuggling heroin in OZ yet the current PM requests hands off.

'However, he will avoid the disciplinary examination if the OAG accepts his resignation and makes it effective before the current due date of August 18'

Course it will be accepted that is a sure thing as nobody in authority wants to open that particular can of worms, they've all had their grubby mitts in there right up to the elbows....

Your following the bread crumbs one step ahead of me.  Look at it from a different angle: What has Nate got on some of his compatriots?  A few skeletons in other peoples closets.  A few favours called in.   No I  wouldn't worry about Nate not getting his pension and the committee finding no act of wrong doing.  It's all good!  ????

Other than face would that really concern them? He is still family, still will get dividends, own stock one way or another. Unless his family decide to cut him off, i doubt holding a directorship or not would really concern them.
