webfact
OAG to probe Nate over decision to drop ‘Boss’ case By The Nation The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has set up a panel to investigate Nate Naksuk over his decision to drop the hit-and-run case against Vorayuth “Boss” Yoovidhya in June. Nate tendered his resignation as deputy attorney general yesterday, as public pressure mounted after he dropped the final charge against Vorayuth, scion of Thailand’s second richest family, over the 2012 hit-and-run killing of a policeman. Nate reportedly defended his decision to drop the case but said he was quitting to protect the OAG’s reputation. However, he will avoid the disciplinary examination if the OAG accepts his resignation and makes it effective before the current due date of August 18. Nate, 65, is due to retire on September 30, but can apply to extend his term for another five years until the age of 70. The OAG yesterday (August 11) also resolved to appoint a panel to review the results of a fresh investigation of the case. Police have until August 20 to send the evidence to prosecutors. Popular Post anterian
As far as I can see the only thing stopping the family from throwing a spoilt brat to the wolves is a devoted mother. The situation is about as ridiculous as a Thai TV soap, only without the screaming women. 6

It could be out of our audible range. 3

Popular Post richard_smith237
‘Probing’ is perhaps the right word. The legal system is being ‘probed’ good ’n proper by this family abusing and insulting the intelligence of the populace. A wholly disgraceful situation which must be highly embarrassing for any Thai who cares for its country’s image.

I imagine his train of thought could've been something like this: "I am retiring end of September. So... since it's almost August anyway, I could just as well accept that nice donation from the Y family and make sure that my retirement will be a bountiful, comfortable one." Such cynical speculations aside, why is the OAG probing him at all? I mean, according to newspaper reports it was the OAG itself which announced in a statement released TODAY that Nate "had submitted his resignation letter to the Attorney-General... to indicate his honesty in the handling of Vorayuth’s case." How DARE they doubt his honesty all of a sudden?!

Popular Post AhFarangJa
So, ........ The OAG set up a panel to investigate Nate, who then gets a phone call advising him of this development so that he can then tender his resignation, thereby avoiding any scrutiny from the committee set up to look into his actions.............you scratch my back,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

phetphet
If Boss gets a criminal record, would it in any way be an obstacle to him holding directorships or office of any kind here in Thailand? Maybe that's why they are putting up such a fight to protect him.

RobU
that fits he is resigning before he can be disciplined he can't have his pension taken away if he is retired when they discover his complicity. However if he is sacked part of the disciplinary action could be to rescind all pension rights and cancel any leaving bonus.
PETERTHEEATER
They're not pushing this with only a 'panel' instead of a committee. Give me the probe please, I know where, exactly, to place it to illicit the truth!

Of course especially when you consider a major player in this government has been legally charged, convicted and jailed for smuggling heroin in OZ yet the current PM requests hands off. Your following the bread crumbs one step ahead of me. Look at it from a different angle: What has Nate got on some of his compatriots? A few skeletons in other peoples closets. A few favours called in. No I wouldn't worry about Nate not getting his pension and the committee finding no act of wrong doing. It's all good! ???? Unless his family decide to cut him off, i doubt holding a directorship or not would really concern them.
