Thai media 77kaoded put together a video and reported from Krabi where they spoke to a local tourist business leader called Sasithorn Kittithorakun.

In an upbeat story she said that Krabi and Koh Phi Phi were "100% ready" for Thai and foreign tourists.

All the temperature checks, scans, screening both in and out were in place.

Hotels had been issued their SHA accreditation.

Restaurants were ready.

During the period of no tourism everywhere had been cleaned.

Even under the sea; volunteer divers had been brought in to clear trash from the sea floor.

Cooperation between the government and private sector had been good.

She declared the area safe for Thai and foreign tourists.

She said that every survey indicated that foreigners wanted to come to Thailand and Phi Phi in particular.

Now the time is fast approaching when these positive sentiments will be put to the test, notes Thaivisa.

77kaoded made absolutely no comment about media reports that Thailand's airspace is to largely remain closed to tourists until next year.

I wish them luck but as September is the wettest month and the sea is churned up from the storms it’s going to be an uphill struggle. I wish the 2 extra Songkran had been moved to October or November when the weather is more pleasant.

That’s why you should come to Krabi now.  The water is smooth enough to waterski on at Khlong Mueang Beach and the weather forecast is great!

So what is SHA, and who are they, and what do they do?

Is it something established to fill pockets in the absence of drying sources?

SHA is the quarantine hotels for Thais. ASQ and ALSQ is for falangs.

Let me on the plane and I will be happy to camp out in Krabi for  a few weeks.
