Popular Post rooster59
Ex-police chief to present new evidence of Red Bull heir’s Ferrari speed Former national police chief, Pol Gen Somyot Poompunmuang, accompanied by Associate Professor Dr. Saiprasit Kerdniyom, of King Mongkut Institute of Technology (KMIT), are to meet with Pol Lt-Gen Manoo Mekmok, Commissioner of the Police Forensic Science Office, to present new evidence about the speed of the Ferrari, being driven by Red Bull heir Vorayuth Yoovidhya, at the time of the fatal accident on Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok in 2012. The meeting is reported in a document regarding the conflicting speed evidence issue, submitted by a forensics officer, Pol Col Thanasit Taengchan, sent to the House Committee on Legal Affairs on Thursday. Pol Col Thanasit, in his original report about the car’s speed, insisted that Vorayuth was travelling at 177kph at the time of the accident. He later retracted this statement, maintaining that the speed was actually 79.22kph, claiming that he was under pressure from senior officers. Popular Post NanLaew
^ Weren't the cameras already found to be inoperative that night? Or did the tape disappear? So long ago and after so many obfuscations, it is truly hard to recall. In the end, it doesn't matter if he was doing 177 kph (totally unlikely) or 79.22 kph (awesome precision there!), the fact is he struck and killed a guy on a motorbike (who happened to be a cop) and regardless if the guy did swerve into his path, he didn't stop to render assistance, conspired in the deception to offer up a family servant as the actual driver and then, after testing positive for cocaine, repeatedly avoided court summonses and simply left the country. 24

Ha ha, your phrase 'simply left the country' for some reason reminded me of the song in The Holy Grail, 'Brave Sir Robin ran away, he bravely ran away, away.' He also did the "press conference" with the Koh Tao headman in which the headman's son was declared completely innocent, and not even on the island at the time, of the horrific murders and rape of British tourists. Good job he's there to sort all these messes out 555!

Ex police chief Somyot is the man allegedly hand picked by coup leader Prayut Chan Ocha to create the desired verdict for the Kho Tao murder investigation in 2014. The local Surat police had identified the perpetrators as a wealthy local headman's son and another family member. The Surat police said they had evidence to support their claim. Apparently the Headman was closely connected with the Surat political fat cats and lo and behold Somyot's appointment resulted in 2 Burmese scapegoats being found and the Headman's son being exonerated after a stage managed DNA test, which was highly publicised. Needless to say Somyot's smiling face was to the fore. Thai Stock Exchange records show that Somyot had purchased shares valued at hundreds of millions Thai Baht at about this time. Obviously a very astute businessman being able to save so much money on a police chief's salary! It seems the Red Bull fiasco has attracted his attention, presumably because of the potential for rich pickings. Whilst the News and OP doesn't make it clear, I can imagine he's found some new evidence to help in the attempt to clear the Red Bull runt. Somyot is never the one to miss an opportunity to enlarge his 'unusual' wealth is he! Somyot is currently the FIFA representative and Head of the cash strapped Thai Football Association Association.
