A wild elephant from the Khao Chamao national park in Rayong trampled a 79 year old rubber plantation owner to death in Wan Jan district.

Pramuan was barely alive when rescue teams arrived. The elephant - called "Ai Nga Tang" by locals on account of having irregularly sized tusks - had kicked him in the face and chest.

He died later in hospital.

Pramuan's son said that he was working in the plantation when he saw the familiar elephant and made his way home.

His father was unfortunately just arriving and came face to face with the pachyderm. They both ran but the elephant caught up with the old man and repeatedly trampled and kicked him.

The son managed to pick up a stick and shout, scaring the elephant back into the forest.

But ultimately it proved to be too late to save his father.

Local officials said that incidences of elephants encroaching on agricultural land bordering the national park were on the rise.

Elephant is only acting out against what it believes is invasion of it's home turf.

If you are going to challenge an animal for property rights...don't challenge an elephant!

Tigers............................. they might be another one best not to challenge.

Seems elephants are scared of bees :w00t:

A search throws up several sites of how to keep elephants away:- http://www.bbc.com/earth/story/20141204-five-ways-to-scare-off-elephants

Could make a deal with local bee keepers, let them use a strip of your land for their hives

Problem is on a rubber plantation there aint much for the bees to forage on.

I see your point.

Could always get the missis to open a garden center with lots of plants that would attract the bees  :whistling:

A short video re-enactment clip would be helpful.
