webfact
Visitors urged to avoid waterfalls in Doi Inthanon By The Nation Doi Inthanon National Park in Chiang Mai province has warned visitors to stay away from waterfalls after flash floods caused by heavy rains intensified currents. Doi Inthanon National Park director Kritsiam Kongsatree said that the rains began on Saturday (August 22), strengthening water currents in Mae Ya Waterfall and Mae Klang Waterfall. Residents who lived near the waterfalls were informed that the situation would get better within an hour as the rain has stopped but the officials will continue monitoring the situation. Regarding a sinkhole spotted on Friday, he said that it was a result of erosion caused by the rain and the responsible agency was trying to fill the hole, but the wetness of the terrain was making it difficult.
