First Chevy quits LOS, then Nissan moves a factory to LOS, now Mitsubishi quits the UK and the EU, it's all happening out there

Tough market conditions at the moment, electrics  still a long way off imo especially in Thailand, some good  deals kicking around though especially with Chevrolet, even down to FUEL  Filters at 400  baht a pair on Facebook marketplace normally 960 baht per  pair +vat at the dealers, genuine parts. I'm  looking for a new hmi module for mine with sat nav embedded list price 42K with Chevrolet YIKES!

Daft really when you can buy a stand alone for a fraction of that price.

Still some new Captivas kicking  around at 599k saw one advertised just today.

Wouldn't be surprised if Ford quit also their  sales are  low compared to Toyota etc especially the pickup market.

Nissan quite good

Nissan been going down the pan for years especially the CVT transmissions, it didnt help when they merged with renault and now Mitsubishi also, Ive had  poor  service from more than one MAJOR brand here and I put this down to "Thainess"more than any particular brand.

I always like the way people slag off a brand when they have never owned one, driven one etc, always seems to be a friend of a friend told me etc etc.

So have you ever owned a Chevrolet?

BMWs  are unreliable in many YouTube videos especially "Car Ninja" Mercedes service is allegedly  appalling John Cadogan Australia, Ive had one BMW 15 years ago, broke down 10  minutes out of the garage, brand new.

I've owned Chevrolets, Fiats, Suzuki, Ford, Vauxhall(best van I ever had was an ASTRAVAn) Peugeot, Citreon, Seat, VW,BMW, Honda, Nissan Toyota Rover and to be fair NOTHING major with any of them but I did buy them all new and I take care of them whereas many Thais neglect their cars, wait till it breaks then "fix  it"

Service has varied from <deleted> to excellent, best was Honda, Chevrolet was far from bottom, Suzuki were quite grim from memory but it was 20 years ago and in the UK.

The Rang--errr  seems to be quite popular though.

Not when compared to monthly sale of toyota  pickups though, Chevrolet sold the least out of all of them, not sure why but people often get set in their ways and some myths  linger on even with MG about as unBritish as you can get now, bears no resemblance to the original marque although Leylands interference   screwed them well and truly  over form the 70's  onwards. I used to live close to the Longbridge  factory, half the time they were on strike.

Benz, BMW, Audi expensive same, but good quality/strong.

Just not true anymore, maybe 30 years ago, you need to do some more research  Ask BMW  owners about replacing valve seals,

Allow me to cut n paste ????, good luck getting the engine out for  that. A  <deleted>  poor  fault, then theres the AUDI dsg gearbox issues, almost as good as the Ford power<deleted> jobby.

BMW v8 engines made after around 2004 have been plagued with a problem where the valve stem seals will leak over time. ... When the leak is very bad, your vehicle may produce billowing smoke at idle or in traffic. You may also smell burning oil from your tailpipe and the smoke coming from the exhaust may smell.

I totally agree, it would be good news if Peugot distribute their cars in Thailand more widely, Peugot make some fantastic cars.

Much better than most Toyota cars. But then pretty much every European car is better than a Toyota.

Depends what you mean by "better"  better  looking for sure better reliability probably  not, I owned a 206cc once cute  little  thing electric metal folding hood , gave it to the girlfriend at the time when I left the UK about 16 years  ago, really a bit of a girlie  car, Peugeots had good  handling in the day 205 gti etc

The big manufacturers need to switch on to producing EVs before they are left behind in the race. The Chinese are way ahead in the game and will take market share in the future...

EVs are on a path to nowhere, IMO. The future lies in hydrogen.

EVs rely on rare earth to make- who controls rare earth?

EVs require polluting to make and dispose of batteries.

EVs don't have the range needed to be a viable alternative.

None of the above applies to hydrogen.

Peugeot have taken over the Chevy factory it seems. They are now selling the 3008 and 5008 SUV's. The rather desirable 3008 starts at a little over 1.5m.

Wasn't some Chinese automaker going to buy GMs plant?
